We love this restaurant and it is the best in Idyllwild, but that does not mean that all of their dishes are home runs. I had the Pasta Carbonara, and while very tasty, it was very saucy. I like Carbonara pasta to be wet with sauce, not swimming in it. But on the other hand, I tried the Salmone Arrosto and it was one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. The salmon was moist yet flaky, with a perfectly caramelized crust, on top of tender greens, veggies, and farro. This dish was excellent! Also, shout out to their bread and butter--which is a must to start any dinner there. The staff is always welcoming and attentive, and we were glad to see that they have kept the music level down.

Food has been better. Pizza dough was overcooked and felt like eating a piece of toast. Pasta was overcooked as well.

Tuesdays nights have live jazz music on the back patio. Music and ambiance were great. Food was good.

The service with Amber was excellent. We loved the music on the back patio. Dining at FERRO was a really nice Saturday night experience.

Ferro, Idyllwild – A Hidden Gem Worth the Drive Had no idea what we were in for—ended up completely blown away. We had the lasagna with prime rib (yes, that’s a thing), a pesto pizza that somehow ruined all other pesto pizzas for me, and bread that could be its own course. Drinks? On point. Service? Solid. The vibe? Exactly what you want when you escape the city. If you’re in Idyllwild and don’t stop here, you’re doing it wrong.

Extremely rude bar manager was confrontational and basically outright hostile. Our other server made up for it but I have never had such poor treatment from a restaurant worker. Unfortunately will not be returning here.

We enjoyed an early dinner on the patio. Happy hour food and price was exceptional. Being older, I thought the portions were perfect! The Insalata di Cesare was perfectly tart and the thin anchovies were an attraction, not distraction, from the taste. The Spaghetti Aglio e Olio con Pomodori Secchi was very tasty. Neither the salad nor pasta were overly dressed. Incredibly good value. I would return.
