Fixins is a full service soul food restaurant that celebrates the history and traditions of African American culture in an inclusive environment that welcomes everyone! As always, the food was great there was a misunderstanding when we first got there with the hostess about the reservation request, but then the manager BJ stepped in and he was able to resolve the situation and we had a really good meal and the food was great as always.

Came here for family visit brunch, and couldn't have had a better time. Drinks were top notch, food was incredible, everyone got what they wanted, and the only problem was trying to decide from all the delicious options. Hosts and wait staff were very attentive, friendly and fun!

Absolutely had to shout out NyshiaGirl at Fixins in Sacramento—she made our visit unforgettable! My family and I came up from LA to celebrate my mom’s birthday, and from the jump, NyshiaGirl set the tone with her warm energy and top-tier customer service. She knew the menu inside and out, and every recommendation she gave us was spot on—from the perfectly crispy fried chicken to the soul-warming mac & cheese. Beyond the food, Fixins has a dope, down-home vibe that feels like a mix of Sunday dinner at Grandma’s and a classic cookout with family. The music, the atmosphere, and the love in the food? 10/10, no notes. But it was NyshiaGirl who truly elevated the experience—she made us feel like VIPs the entire time. If you’re in Sacramento, ask for her and trust her recommendations—you won’t regret it. We’ll definitely be back! Five stars all the way!

This was an unbelievable experience and what better way to spend time with my boys after a challenging day at the gym together. The catering to customers from the minute we walked in, made us all fell welcome, like we were at grandmas!

Food is fantastic. Always busy recommend making reservations and get there early as you may have to park a distance away. But the wait and food are worth it and staff even when busy take notice and pop by to check on you. We drive an hour to get here definitely worth it

Friday reservation for 530p. It wasn’t crowded and there were several servers on the floor. But, we spent a lot of time waiting. It was about 10 minutes before our server got to our table and apologized for not acknowledging us sooner. We ordered water for the table and 1 cocktail and 1 wine and kool-aid for the kids. It took 15 minutes for the waters to arrive then another 10 minutes for the kool-aid and another 5 for one of the cocktails. We ordered 2 appetizers for the table. The macaroni balls arrived about 10 minutes later. We snacked on those and 10 minutes later I asked our server about the deep fried eggs and my wine and she told me she knew we were waiting and it was coming. She seemed very frazzled but I observed other servers chatting and laughing with their customers. We couldn’t understand why she seemed so stressed. The place was not full and there were plenty of servers. Of course, we don’t know what else she may have been dealing with, but it was a little off-putting. The wine finally arrived after 25 minutes from order time, and the deep fried eggs shortly after. I’ve had the deep fried eggs before but this time they seemed smaller and definitely less tasty-very disappointed. I would not order them again. Then our entrees got to the table. My oxtails were chewy but the gravy was divine! My collard greens were tender and delicious. The smothered pork chop was good but could have used a bit more seasoning. The smothered chicken was really tasty and seasoned perfectly. The chicken and sausage gumbo was ok but very salty. The yams were perfect! Not overly sweet and cooked to perfection-not too soft but smooth and tender. We ordered peach cobbler and banana pudding to go. The cobbler wasn’t sweet enough for our liking and the banana pudding only had wafers crumbles on top and waaay too much whipped cream in the layers. Would not order either of those again. Our first time dining at Fixins in the evening but we will go back to weekday afternoons.
