Located inside the Westley Hotel in the heart of Downtown Calgary, Fonda Fora is an exciting new contemporary Mexican restaurant brought to you by the folks at Thank You Hospitality.

Food and Beverage Magazine 30 under 30 winner, Chef Emilio Montenegro has crafted a menu based on his upbringing in Northern Mexico and his journey in kitchens across the world. Much of our concept is based around the heirloom corn of Mexico. We import four types of corn from a collective of heirloom farms in Mexico in order to provide the best product we can. We process this corn from raw and turn it into masa for dishes all across our menu, like our Sope, Tamal, and of course, Tortillas. There is a saying in Mexico that we live by at Fonda Fora: "Sin maiz no hay pais," meaning without corn, there is no country. Maiz is the lifeblood of Mexican cuisine, and we are excited to present it to you as it should be.

Overall, the quality of the food was commendable; the trout Crudo was exceptional, being the highlight of the evening. However, the Pibil was somewhat lacking in flavor, preventing it from being a true standout. Nevertheless, the overall experience was excellent. Thank you. It is worth noting that the server appeared to harbor a significant discontent with his role, though he made an effort to conceal his unfavorable demeanor with a sardonic smile.

I’m staying in this hotel and glad to have a great restaurant within! Good menu. Great tequila menu. Services wonderful. Food was great.

The drinks were delicious. The gluten free options were abundant. We loved the salsa sampler. Next time we will try a tequila flight for sure. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable

Gabby is one of the best servers we’ve experienced. She’s so knowledgeable with the menu and so kind!! She took us for a ride with the plates for sure!

Great food and atmosphere. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and helped me with my dietary restrictions. The menu is also well marked GF, DF, NF, V and if modifications available. We will be back!

We were recommended to try Fonda Fora for an anniversary meal as we enjoy Mexican cuisine. We had an excellent server who helped us navigate the menu, the concept behind it, and gave great recommendations for each course. Service was attentive without being hurried. Food was delicious, ambience was good and we felt welcomed and cared for. The icing on the cake was an anniversary card signed by all the staff. Thank you!

Table of 5 shared many plates. All contained fresh ingredients with such great flavour. Loved the vibe and the service was wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Our server was outstanding and went over and above for us! she was fun, energetic, knowledgeable and just an absolute pleasure to have serve us - thank you Vanessa!!! The food was impeccable and everyone at the table enjoyed it all!!
