The Four Pears Pub is set to host an unforgettable evening, celebrating the culinary talents of the upcoming generation of chefs and servers in an exciting collaboration with Moulton College. This one-of-a-kind night promises to be a delightful showcase of innovation and creativity in the kitchen. A highlight of the evening will be the unique opportunity for students to work closely with seasoned mentors, each allocated to guide a course of the multi-course tasting menu. This collaboration will enhance the learning experience, allowing the young chefs to gain invaluable insights and advice from their mentors as they prepare exquisite dishes. Adding to the excitement, the event will feature guest chef Dan Merriman, the latest winner of MasterChef 2024. With his expertise and flair, Chef Merriman will join the students in crafting a memorable culinary experience that reflects the passion and talent of the next generation. Guests can look forward to being immersed in a vibrant atmosphere filled with the aromas of fresh ingredients and the sounds of laughter and camaraderie. Join us at The Four Pears Pub for a night that supports emerging talent and champions gastronomy's future. It's an evening you won't want to miss! £10 per ticket will be given to the charity "Hospitality Action"

I am so truly disappointed with our experience when 4 of us dined at the Four Pears for Mothering Sunday. The service was amazing I cannot fault that, the ladies who served us were second to none. Starters amazing, it was just unfortunate when the main arrived. 3 of us had the trio roast, and 1 the slow roasted lamb. Unfortunately the lamb arrived and it was pure gristle and fat. We couldn’t even cut through it we had to request steak knives. 3 of us ate the other meat with our roast, (beef and chicken) but my Mother only had the lamb, and it was truly inedible, we spoke to the waitress who kindly spoke to the kitchen, we were then greeted by an elder lady who advised “the chef is happy with the meat so there is nothing we are prepared to do about it” to which we replied how disappointed we were, so we asked for only the lamb dish to be taken off the bill, she then went back to the kitchen to come back and advise us “the chef is happy he isn’t prepared to take this off the bill” then the family behind us also said to the lady that her lamb was inedible and showed her plate, again she was told “the chef is happy with the dish” I then requested to speak with him to show him the lamb to which I was refused, so I requested his details to which she reeled them off to me, so I had to ask for them to be written down. I cannot believe how a chef will not take constructive criticism about the food being served. Also the multiple people who were asking for steak knives when being served this particular meat and dish, kind of proves to me there was an issue with the lamb. It was only last week I ate at a Michelin star restaurant and the chefs were asking for our feedback constantly. Which is obviously how they have got to where they are, as they are happy to take criticism and feedback! Shocked and dissatisfied is an understatement!

Hi Kayleigh. firstly, we're sorry. I wanted to let you we did take the feedback on the lamb on board. Though the chefs were happy with it, they did appreciate that it might not be to the taste of a wider audience as it was medium rare. They did course correct, following your feedback and that of the table next to you. I hope that you can also understand that on Mother's Day, our busiest Sunday service of the year, it wasn't possible for our chefs to leave the kitchen. I can appreciate that added to the frustration.

Took my dad and step mum for a mother's day dinner at the weekend. First time at the Four Pears and it did not disappoint! The food was beautiful, one of the best fillet steaks I have eaten . The pub was very busy and we waited just over an hour for our starters but, we really didn't mind as it was a nice chilled atmosphere and our waitress was so, so lovely. They couldn't apologise enough on the wait , we had just ordered a bottle of Provence rose and they insisted on it being on the house for the delay. Never had that before at a venue, usually you get a glass of wine, not a £35 bottle! As mentioned above our waitress ( long blonde hair beautiful girl) and the rest of the staff were brilliant. Cannot stand to have bad service somewhere , it really can impact the whole experience. The only thing I would say as feedback is the cocktails were not up to scratch. The cosmo wasn't sharp and strong it was very sweet but again, they were more than happy to swap it for me! We are booked to come back over easter which speaks volumes. Thanks! :-)

Went for Saturday lunch with family. The whole experience was fantastic. The decor of the pub is very good , it’s very well appointed. Staff were very attentive and professional. Food was amazing. Will definitely return.

4 of us were seated at a large round table more suited to a party of 6-8. It was set for 5 and we had to ask to have the additional place setting removed. There is little in the way of ambience- it's just a rectangular room with tables plonked in it. It needs different sections or to be rearranged to get a better feel. I like some large airy dining spaces - but this doesn't capture that mood either. The the burrito starter was just the cheese in chunks of tomato floating in a balsamic puddle, and one member of the party had steak tartar served on something hot. The salmon starter was good and the carrot tart was large- the party member who had that didn't finish it and I'm not sure what she thought of it really. Overall, not a bad evening out, but not exceptional.

Thank you for taking the time to review. The creamy Burrata salad with the Isle of Wight tomatoes with a PX sherry balsamic? Yes, the presentation is simple but the flavours are beautiful. Steak tartare served on a potato terrine/hash brown is a not uncommon way to present the dish, it adds texture and a bit of wow factor. The Carrot Tart Tatin is a generous portion. I'm not sure why you are so keen to put a negative spin on her not finishing? Everyone is entitled to an opinion and I'm sorry we didn't wow you. I understand that you said to a member of our team that 'she gets paid well enough to deal with this' when she was trying to look after you and your guest. Perhaps you didn't mean to come over as unkindly as you did. But we prefer to serve those that show our team respect.

Celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Four Pears, warmly greeted by the staff and received impecable service. The food was delicious from start to finish with generous size portions. A lovely end to our special day. Looking forward to going back again.

We were met with a lovely welcome. 2 of the party had the plaice and 1 had the chicken supreme, all good with some really nice side dishes too. Good wine list. We had a great evening!

A really super evening where flavours were at the core of everything. Every course was distinct with some lovely original ideas without straying into whackey or odd. The staff were friendly and engaging and the ambience was relaxed and comforting. Certainly amongst the best food I have had in Northampton and outstanding value. Anyone looking for a treat in and around Northampton should book. Oh and did I mention?……Flavour,flavour and more flavour.

From the moment we stepped into the Four Pears, we knew we were in for something special. The warm, inviting atmosphere was perfectly complemented by the exceptional hospitality of Clare, who made us feel instantly at home. Our evening began with a beautifully presented beef tartare with hash brown, a dish that perfectly balanced texture and flavor. This was followed by the smoked salmon taramasalata, which was velvety, rich, and delicately smoked—an absolute delight. For mains, we started with the hake with celeriac, a dish that showcased the freshest ingredients with stunning execution. The balance of flavors and textures was nothing short of perfection. The lamb rump, however, was the true star—cooked to tender perfection and paired with the most delicious, indulgent potatoes. Every bite was an experience in itself. To finish, the chocolate 54% with miso caramel and milk gelato was a revelation. The balance of sweet, salty, and umami flavors made it a dessert to remember—rich, yet not overpowering, and utterly moreish. The drinks were equally impressive. My husband enjoyed a superb wine flight, with each pairing thoughtfully selected to elevate the meal. The port he had at the end was, in his words, “out of this world.” Meanwhile, my hard seltzer cocktail was made with precision and finesse, beautifully refreshing and perfectly balanced. A huge credit goes to Chef Joe Walker and James Peck, whose expertise and passion shine through in every dish. The entire experience was enhanced by the fact that they catered so effortlessly to my dietary intolerances, making me feel completely at ease. For a dining experience of this caliber, the pricing is truly exceptional. Four Pears isn’t just a meal; it’s a beautifully curated evening of indulgence, warmth, and impeccable flavors. Highly, highly recommend!

Hi Theo. Local ingredients of the best quality, with every single element of the dish made on site by our highly skilled team of chefs. Some will appreciate the value, others not. But we're really proud of what comes out of our kitchen and yes, the way we operate means we have to charge a little more.
