                                                  Frannys is simply the best - and getting even better. Sublime cuisine - delicious and creative. Lovely bistro - welcoming and happy vibe. Superb service. Wonderful menu - everything would be a great choice. Their three specials sounded amazing. The duck salad was bliss. Kraken, mussels for Jen, and Portuguese seafood and linguine were perfect. You smile the next day just thinking about your delightful meal and time there! It is a treasure. Go.

                                                  Fourth time dining there so I feel confident in saying now it is one of our favorite mid-coast restaurants. I now regularly crave their mussels. It’s slightly embarrassing to slurp the broth but it is impossible to resist. The shrimp dumplings are excellent with a nice peanutty sauce that mixes with the slaw and noodles. It’s really two very good appetizers mixed in a single dish. They are a bit stingy with the bread and offer a couple sugar-cube sized bites of focaccia. The wine list is also a little lacking and very pedestrian. I would love to see some robust Italian varieties. Tonight we had the special Atlantic char…while the risotto needed a better Parmesan flavor, the fish and the asparagus were perfectly cooked. The sauce was a combination of tomato and pesto and it made a terrific combination. The dessert of gingerbread cake, real whipped cream and ginger ice cream was surprisingly lacking in ginger and spice flavor but still pleasant. Overall it is a superb restaurant. Great atmosphere with the perfect ambiance for a nice night out. Chic decor with a pleasant yet hip music selection. It remains THE place to eat in Camden and a destination for excellent meals in mid coast Maine.

                                                  This was an easy decision where to celebrate my wife’s ‘big’ birthday, at one of her top three favorite restaurants in Maine. And they never blinked, even after I had to tweak our reservations twice! We ended up with five for dinner and Jenn made this huge table in a corner work. We enjoyed their steak, roast chicken, ribs, my scallops and mussels in grits, and the special char for my wife. Everybody was very happy, well fed, and enjoyed the evening. This is a great restaurant and I’m already planning when we can get back, just the two of us. Thank you, Franny’s.

                                                  Franny's Bistro is superb in every way. The food is outstanding and very creative. The wait staff works as a team to make sure that every detail is addressed insuring a wonderful dining experience. What makes it very special and personable is the fact that one of the owners actively is engaged in the dining room making sure that every customer is comfortable and happy with their meal. We keep going back to Franny's because it is the ultimate in a dining experience. It is a special place for us.....thanks to the owners and wait staff.

                                                  We were greatly pleased with our first dinner evening such that we changed our plans for our second dinner evening on a two night stay in Camden. As a belated Valentine's Day celebration, I made a special request of a charming table, which was nicely adorned with an "I Love You" balloon, which we thought was a nice touch. We were then greeted by a nice young man, who as it turns out, was new to the server role...he did quite well! He felt badly about breaking a cork in our wine and the owner then approached us with another bottle. We told her we would gladly take the first bottle, but she insisted. We started with the grilled romaine, which was out of this world-by far the best I have had. Then, I had the Portuguese Seafood and Linguine, which was just the right amount of heat and the seafood was incredibly fresh, with large sweet, tender mussels, large shrimp and scallops that were perfectly tender and not overwhelming. I will say my entree was a toss up between this and their lamb special-but I will get back to that. The chef, also co-owner, made a visit to our table which was a pleasant surprise. I had to share my impressions of his creations-they are quite good. So, with this experience, my wife and I decided we were not going to go to our other planned restaurant, but rather return to Franny's since our experience was quite good. That allowed me to have their special lamb chops, which were out of this world. They were clearly New Zealand lamb and Chef's presentation and mastery were not lost on me. I had to share with him that they were by far the best lamb chops I have ever enjoyed...including my own! We had limited options since this is the off season, but that ended up being a special bonus because we cannot think of having dinner anywhere else when we return. If you like a wonderful atmosphere (also a special nod to the 70's decor and vibe), great food, great service & an overall wonderful experience, then give Franny's a try, you will not be disappointed!!
