Gene and Georgetti is Chicago's original steakhouse since 1941. This family-owned establishment housed in Chicago's third oldest building serves the finest prime-aged steaks and chops, pastas, & signature dishes invented here such as The Garbage Salad and Chicken alla Joe. Our curated wine list originates from our roots in Lucca, Tuscany, Italy - we concentrate on Italian varietals that complement our classic Italian steakhouse menu.

Securely processed credit card info is required to secure a reservation. No-shows or cancellations within 48 hrs will be charged $25 pp.
As a reminder we do have a 15 minute grace period to honor your reservation, past that time your reservation will be forfeit.

Valet parking after 3pm is $15 cash.

Our dress code is Smart Business/Cocktail Chic - you never know who you might see at G & G!

Gene & Georgetti can accommodate your party of up to 100.

We had a wonderful time. Food was great and the service was excellent! You get a great portion size for the a la carte sides. It was a wonderful experience.

My wife and I were excited to dine at Chicago’s oldest steak house but that feeling quickly left. The staff and ambiance were amazing but the food was lackluster. Our Ribeyes ($97) were cooked perfectly but not seasoned well. They were also on the chewy side. The Brussel sprouts were not charred and firm…more mushy and pasty. The other sides were good but not worth the price. I won’t be headed back anytime soon.

I was first introduced to Gene and Georgetti in 1997. What impressed me was the fabulous meal, service and ambiance. I felt like I was part of a society where people get dressed-up and have an "If you have to ask, you can't afford it." attitudes. Jump ahead to 3 Jan 2025. My wife and I were in Chicago to celebrate 19y anniversary with reservations made way in advance (July 2024). I had talked this place up to her and it was going to be a fabulous experience. Well, the steaks, mashed potatoes and spinaci gratinate were very good. We were surprised when Antonio, our server, brought over a complimentary panna cotta as a lovely gesture for joining them. So, what's my issue? Ambiance. We were both disappointed at the lack of a dress code. We saw t-shirts, jeans and hoodies. When I'm about to spend $200 for dinner, I don't want to feel like I'm at Texas Roadhouse. It wasn't busy at all so the servers decided to congregate in a group at the station near our table. There was also a gathering of employees at the bar. Also near our table. Basing this visit as compared to 1997, what a bit of a let down. To a coolness factor was when my wife was allowed to take the centerpiece with her. Good food but nothing made the visit stand out.

Impeccable service and loved that we were not rushed. Pasta was excellent and steaks were decadent and delicious, however one was lower quality and did not meet expectations. Waitstaff resolved and we left happy.

From checking in to being seated, to wait staff, drinks, appetizers, dinner, dessert couldn’t be better. Everyone is polite, nice, glad to see you. Juan is always our requested waiter, he remembers, know everything about the menu and has great sense of humor!!

We had a wonderful NYE dinner at Gene and Georgetti's last night. Knowing this restaurant had a solid reputation for old, traditional service and high quality food, we were not disappointed. We thoroughly enjoyed and shared a mouth-watering grilled 20 ounce rib-eye cut with Vesuvio potatoes and grilled asparagus with cocktails and wine. DELICIOUS! Our server, Alex, was very nice, attentive, and timed everything perfectly.
