   Very good food and excellent service. The George has a long history of being a very good Pub, but for some years has been poor. It has now been restored to an excellent vibrant Pub, with good food and a great atmosphere. Our first visit for food for some years, and it is wonderful to see the return of excellence. Well done to the two new owners, and thank you (they took over last summer).

   Our waitress was attentive, without being pushy or obtrusive. Any requests were dealt with quickly .

   Just three of us for lunch today but surroundings were lovely and the service was perfect. Food was gorgeous, meat and vegan options both.

   Food and service were great - some dishes better than others but there could be an element of personal choice there as well

   I chose the duck salad, a £17 main course (apparently). It was more like a starter size. Not a lot of duck and a pile of crispy noodles on top that added nothing to the dish. I had to ask for a side plate to dispose of them so that I could eat the rest of the dish, and also a side order of chips so I might actually feel like I had eaten something. I did tell the waiter I was disappointed with the meal. He apologised but that was it. When the bill came I suggested they take off the chips as I only needed them because the meal portion was so small. They did. I'm not going to be rushing back unfortunately.

   Visited for lunch on the first day of a new menu. Haven’t been to The George since it changed management; very impressed by what has been achieved. Food & staff were excellent; we shall be going again, hopefully soon.
