With a name that means "cozy or nice atmosphere, but also belonging and general togetherness," gezellig invites guests to experience an elegant menu of local, seasonal cuisine using french techniques in a casual and welcoming environment. Located in Ottawa, Ontario, gezellig prepares each menu item using high-quality ingredients purchased locally. On the menu are items such as seared scallops, braised beef shortibs, potato gnocchi, beef tartare, duck breast, and wild-caught lingcod. Our classic butterfinger for dessert is a staple that has been on our menu since opening in 2012

Lunch consisted of two plates for $30. I started with a radichio salad which was excellent. A little on the skimpy side. It was followed by prawns and udon noodles with red peppers and had a little spice but very nice. It was just a little skimpy but delicious and in the end with both dishes, the meal was sufficient. Service was good and seating was very nice, beside a window.

This restaurant is pricey, but SO good. From the specialty cocktails, the food, the ambiance, and the excellent service everything was spot on.

Expérience gastronomique garantie. Le Gezellig pour célébrer un anniversaire, ça ne déçoit jamais. Cette soupe poire et panais nous a subjugués. Les crevettes sur nouilles udon très asiatique et succulente. La crème brûlée au thé vert sublime, même si pas aussi excitante que celle à la framboise/pisstaches/chocolat noir. Enfin le service suave de Andrée en français SVP, magique. La visite en fin de repas de Jainina très agréable. Et merci pour le sorbet en cadeau de fête!!! Espérons une occasion d'y retourner très très bientôt.

Difficult to get to as there is no parking, unlike Bekta which has lots of public parking areas.

Loved the service, food, and especially the food for my 15 month old daughter! Whoever designed the kids menu knows kids and it was very refreshing to eat at a place where I didn’t have to do any extra food prep, my daughter could just eat everything as-is

Celebrated our anniversary for the 3rd year in a row at Gezellig. I finally ordered the fried eggplant as I’ve been tempted to order last few visits but didn’t . It was the best meal I’ve had there yet. So delicious. Hubby had the short ribs and they were equally good. We were treated to a sparkling wine toast which was a really nice touch. Perfect spot for a special celebration. Highly recommend.

Absolutely wonderful brunch experience. Really innovative menu concept. Everything we ordered was so delicious!! The breakfast poutine and banana bread French toast is a must try. Will definitely be returning to try their dinner menu. Highly recommend!
