Situated on the High Street of Eton, close to the River Thames and between the historic buildings of Eton College and Windsor Castle, Gilbey's is open from 12 noon for lunch and 6pm for dinner every day.
Originally an old butcher's shop, we created one of the first wine bars outside London in 1975 - The Eton Wine Bar. After 25 years of success, we changed the name in 2000 to Gilbey's, having recognised that our food had outgrown the original wine bar concept. Our friendly and efficient team look forward to welcoming you in either the stunning Conservatory Restaurant, cosy Front Bar and Townhouse, one of our newly opened Townhouse guest bedrooms or our top floor studio apartment-our exclusive guest accommodation.

Our lovely first floor Private Dining room is for parties of between 8 and 16. We also have a larger private dining room called The gallery which seats 17-34 and has it's own private, heated patio garden.The Conservatory, leading on to the Courtyard Garden is ideal for parties of 30 to 60.

Very disappointing and not up to standard of previous visits. Problem with chef? Onion in soup not properly cooked and risotto vegetables not fully incorporated in stock. Very sloppy.Chips not crisped.!. Haddock nt cod as on menu dry and not hot. Service not very attentive. All in all expensive for what we had. Regrettably will not be back to an old faviourite restaurant.

This was our 2nd visit in a week. Both visits outstanding. Great food, lovely setting and very efficient, friendly service

Table for two we were given was a service way as well as subject to cold every time a guest arrived to the restaurant. We asked to be re seated. The room we sat in was warm but soulless. The food was nice but the plates were not hot so food was not at its best temperature We stayed the night in a very lovely room that was well appointed and warm. Bed was comfortable but pillows were thin and not at all comfortable. The breakfast was advertised to be cooked when I booked on line however on arrival we were informed it was continental. When I tried to have breakfast there was no bread to toast and the room and had been set up the night before so pastries were old and un appealing. Very disappointing. The townhouse is in a great location and parking was an easy walk.

This is our second visit to Gilbey's and it was just as good as our first! We enjoyed the 3 course set menu and the food, service and value for money were all excellent. Gilbey's is really cosy and welcoming and looked especially lovely decorated for Christmas. Great range of drinks and wines too.

Our meals were both very tasty & were presented well. The wait staff was very helpful & pleasant. Overall a very enjoyable evening.

It’s an interesting venue. It offers private hire areas. It works if you want a quiet venue without hustle. I was expecting a higher level of experience based on the website and ratings. The food was all fine, and the service was all fine. At times it felt like a dreary waiting room as there was no atmosphere, low ambient music and a period of no ambient music. Acceptable overall.
