Gjelina is a restaurant that serves locally-sourced, produce-forward food with menus guided by conversations and long-standing relationships with farmers, local ranchers, fishermen, and co-ops. Our first location Gjelina LA in Venice Beach opened in 2008 becoming a staple in the local community. We are currently open for lunch, brunch, and dinner services.

Wanted to love this place but it failed to deliver. From the hostess’ lack of warmth and telling us we had to leave within 90 minutes to the awkward to navigate space that had people knocking into each other at every turn to the meager wine pours …just was not impressed. It felt very much a throwback to bottle service NY where you’re supposed to flex and the idea of hospitality is you’re the lucky one to be there. No modifications at all, even for allergies? No thanks!

I had an average experience at Gjelina NYC relative to my expectations after consistently enjoying the LA location. I would characterize the food as fine, however, not good enough to bring me back in light of the service was so uninspired, bordering on dismissive, that I don’t think I will eagerly return.

I absolutely adore Gjelina in LA (it is a staple for me) and felt like dinner here lived up to my very high expectations. I’m not sure why folks have negative reviews on here— this is truly one of the best meals I’ve had in awhile in the city.

Food is definitely overpriced. I had 2 crispy eggs that came with 4 slices of prosciutto and some pieces of raw kale. I would pay $10 for the dish which is the cost of the eggs.

For a table with this many dishes on the menu, these very tiny two tops are woefully impractical. Every time a new dish came we were forced to send something away that we were still eating. The service was sublime, but the pacing given the size of the table was way too fast. We couldn't eat fast enough to keep up with the delivery - and again, these tables are way too small.
