Inspired by long days on the Gulf, late nights on the ranch and the colorful creations of our abuela, our family's Kitchen & Cantina showcases the rich foods and traditions we grew up with on both sides of the border.

Nothing matches the flavor of food grilled over mesquite. Try wood-fired Texas quail swaddled in homemade tortillas, jalapeno rellanos stuffed with house-made chorizo and sizzling, family-style parrilladas - huge mixed platters of wild game and fresh vegetables, topped with pico de gallo and queso fresco - a unique spin on Houston barbeque.

Our days begin roasting chilies and tomatoes, rolling fresh tortillas in our bakery and wringing every last drop of Ruby Red grapefruit for cocktails. We hand-grind our own sausage and hand-trim every ounce of meat in our butchery, then anoint it with the savory seasonings and marinades we've honed over generations.

A few margaritas on our patio and you've found your new casa sweet casa.

Me and my girlfriend has never been to this place before and seeing that it was Valentine’s Day. I wanted to surprise her for the place that she never went to. After an hour drive and wait a little bit to make sure we are on time for a reservation. Around 845, which was our reservation time and then waited 10 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge that we were at the table to bring us drinks. After a drink order was taken. I waited another seven minutes for my Coke while my girlfriend got her lemonade in two minutes. I understand that it was Valentine’s Day and it is a busy restaurant still it just irks me that it took so long. When the food came out, everything was perfect. It tasted amazing, the only reason it’s not getting four stars was because of the service.

Not many vegetarian or vegan options which is surprising for this day and age at a Mexican place in Texas, none the less. Margaritas were great and so was the corn elote. Over all, it was an okay experience.

Grilled Romain salad was not prepared as it was in our previous dining experience. Pairing with grilled Quail was good as a protein substitute.

Miguel was an excellent server! My hunny’s fajitas were cooked a perfect medium rare! I loved my cheese enchiladas. A lovely dinner!!!

The wait was approximately 45 minutes with no reservations on Saturday night. Even with reservations it was an additional 15 minutes. I was so excited, reviews were excellent. The chips and salsa were warm a very good. Service was great. This is were everything went downhill. We ordered a bacon wrapped shrimp with charro beans and rice. Tortilla soup and a taco platter. Everything was bland , the charro beans were runny and again bland. Tortilla soup had no flavor and my wife taco platter more of the same. I would say for the $95 I spent on dinner. We could have gone somewhere else and been perfectly satisfied. Just disappointed. Oh well !
