Located in the heart of San Francisco, Hakashi Japanese Sushi Bar & Grill is a chef driven restaurant that is committed to only using the finest and seasonal fish, vegetables, rice and ‘made from scratch’ sauces.

Our cuisine is simple and delicate. Our Chef, Julio, learned from his master, Norihiko Suzuki, from Fukushima Japan. Chef Julio is excellent at inspiring and hand crafting every dish from Omakese to Nigiri to Sashimi. He is also great at customizing arrangements for special occasions to achieve something that is truly a reflection of honoring the traditional Japanese Cuisine.

First time in this sushi restaurant. My wife and I both agreed it was the best sushi we have ever had. Period. Go.

Excellent dining experience. Extensive fresh fish selections for the best nigiri and innovative combination of flavors for delicious sushi options. All in a very intimate environment. Highly recommended.

Me and my friend absolutely love this place!! The service is great and the food we had was beyond delicious. Lot of their raw fish just melt in your mouth right away, we asked the server for the recommendations and we ordered the ones they suggested and we love them all! We ordered a lot more but was so focusing on enjoying the food and only got a couple of pictures. Will definitely come back again for the fresh and delicious sushi!!

Overall food is good but they forgot part of our order twice and we just gave up and asked for the check. Server could not care less.

The Chirashi-don, Katsu-don, and saba plate were on point. The sashimi in the Chirashi-don was fresh and tasty. Would appreciate if portions of sashimi in the Chirashi-don were a bit more generous for the $30 price. The other dishes were delicious and well-priced. Given that there were only four groups of luncheon diners, service was good. Interior was well laid out with cool ambiance. Look forward to returning and trying other dishes including the Omakase.

There was a terrific selection of available fresh fish. The restaurant is proud of its omakase menus and pushes those. They were fine with us ordering a la carte, though. We didn't want any kitchen items and prefer to select our favorites from their strong variety of choices. Service was above average and everyone was attentive to details. The other customer, for the most part, appeared to be neighborhood regulars who enjoyed easy back-and-forth banter with the sushi chefs. I recommend this place if you are in the neighborhood. If you are able to travel farther afield, I recommend Ebisu near Irving and 9th/Inner Sunset.
