Hamrock's Restaurant is located within the Moore-McCandlish House (built 1842) in the heart of historic Fairfax City. We've been proud to serve delicious made-to-order American dishes using fresh ingredients since our establishment in 2016. We also have a wonderful hand-selected wine list to enhance your dining experience. Approximately eighty-percent of our menu is-- or can be-- gluten-free, as we use only canola and olive oil in all of our cooking. Some of our best-selling dishes are our southern fried chicken, grilled meatloaf, and crab cakes-- all which are gluten free! Other menu favorites include our deviled eggs, firecracker shrimp, Atlantic grilled salmon, roasted pork tenderloin, and penne pasta with andouille sausage & shrimp. We have beautiful year-round outdoor seating options on our wrap around porch (we have heaters!) In the warmer months, we also open our courtyard. We're also more than happy to accommodate business dinners or other special occasions in private rooms.

                                                                          Great Mother’s Day dinner. Good service. Delicious food. It was relatively quiet so we could hear ourselves talk.

                                                                          Mother’s Day brunch table for 8 family members. Very good value for the price. Excellent variety of buffet options with omelets made to order. No liquor for bloody Mary’s, however nice selection of wines, sangrias, mimosas, and local beers. It is typically busy anywhere for Mother’s Day brunch, so a certain amount of delay in service should be expected. However, Hamrock’s young and inexperienced wait staff made uncommon delays the norm today. It was buffet style dining which of course caused there to be plenty of used plates on our table. We had to continually remind our waiter to please clear the plates. At one point we waited over 20 minutes for our empty water glasses to be refilled only after asking the waiter to do so. My ham and cheese omelette took, no exaggeration, 30 minutes to reach our table. Another dining party adjacent to our table was given there check, and had to remind their server that they had yet to order their dessert. Our reservation was for 1pm. Due to the extremely slow service we were not given our check after dessert until after 3pm. We will try another meal at Hamrock’s to see if this was the exception rather than the rule. One would think that a restaurant that serves brunch on one of the busiest days of the year would have their “A Team” on staff. They absolutely did not!

                                                                          Best crab cakes for a very long time! Southern slaw was real, market vegetables, herbs. Meatloaf top, fresh beans, great mash. Dog friendly!

                                                                          We went for Sunday brunch. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Server was not very friendly but she was efficient and our meals arrived in a timely manner. We were seated in one of the smaller rooms so it felt a bit cramped.

                                                                          Initially seated at a terrible table adjacent to loud, clanky kitchen. Complained and was moved to a better table. Weird as we arrived with an advance reservation and there were multiple empty tables. Annoying. Food was outstanding. Service was good. Restaurant is way, way too loud with stupid music coming out of noisy kitchen. Annoying. Food was great! The only reason I might come back. Not nearly the ambiance we have enjoyed in prior visits.

                                                                          The service and ambiance were absolutely excellent and I'd absolutely come back! Pur waitress was amazing. But the food was not great...lobster bisque tasted like tomato soup, penne with meatballs tasted like chef boyardee, scallops were barely edible...I'd come back for drinks, the location and ambiance, and maybe try desserts.

                                                                          Absolutely delicious food - my avocado and chicken salad was fresh and flavorful. I can't wait to go back and try more items from the menu. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Don't say no to the bread basket!
