   As a Long Island undergrad, I spent plenty of Thursday nights down Port with my friends. The Harbor Grill was never the go to spot, but it was a spot that I would visit now and again. Luckily for me, I am not a member of a minority religion, so I was allowed inside. Of course, as an African American I know what it feels like to be marginalized and I will not patron a place that discriminates based on religion. There food is fine. There drinks are fine. None of the matters anymore, because they have not only casted a dark light on themselves, they have casted a cloud on Port Jeff. As a Long Island native, I want to say SHAME ON YOU! To deny someone entrance because of their religion is disgusting. To try and justify your actions as a "safety concern" is disgusting and ignorant. Save your PR and your attempts to spin this situation. This Long Islander, and I suspect many other Long Islanders, will not be returning to your establishment.

   We had a set time for dinner. The server we had was awful andslow. We didn get bread until we asked twice for it, when we finished the appetizers the dishes weren't taken away but just left on the table until we asked for them to be removed. The front stairs had no railings, the handicapped entrance was not clearly marked to where it was, i needed to call in the rain to find out where it was.

   The waiter barely came to us and everyone just seemed so unpleasant. When I got the rest of my dinner to go, I open it up when I got home and there was actually garbage in the take home box! They literally took my plate and dumped it in a box and left a straw and an empty katchup container in the box with my food! I’ll never eat at this restaurant again.

   Our waiter was awesome and busting his butt! Very attentive but the food was just ehh.. the lobster Mac n cheese didn’t taste cheesy at all and was likely sitting out for awhile before being served to us. Also the special on a 1 1/4 lobster for $32 didn’t seem like 1 1/4 which was disappointing. We would most likely only return to the bar up top which has a nice ambiance but definitely not for the food.

   Went with a party of 4. Still some empty tables in restaurant but they didn’t have enough menus to give us. We had to share. Ordered drinks requested no fruit in my drink and got a lemon in it. When I ordered my next one before my appetizer came I made the same request. Apps cane, finished them and still had no drink. When it finally came it had a lemon in it. I had fish tacos that weren’t good. My wife had lobster roll said it was so so. My friend and his wife had steak that was over cooked. Parking is not easy to find in that area. All lots were full. All said and done a bad experience

   Our first time to dine in the Schafer's Restaurant. From the receptionist to our servers, they were all nice ! Great service, food is good and all in reasonable prices.

   Overall good experience, good food and fun atmosphere. Went for my birthday with a large group. I would have liked better communication with the staff when making the reservation. I made the reservation days in advance and asked for outdoor seating, was told that’s fine. I called day of to confirm the reservation and again mentioned outdoor seating, was told yes that’s fine. I get there, and I’m told “when you make a reservation it’s for indoor dining, and when you get here your name can go on the list for outdoor dining. The wait for that is 45 minutes I THINK”. The lack of communication when making and confirming the reservation was infuriating because had I been told that from the start I simply would have showed up earlier to get my name on the outdoor list. Simple as that. Instead we chose to wait and luckily were seating within 20 minutes when we asked a different host to check the wait time, because the first couldn’t be bothered to double check and confirm.
