The Hartwood Restaurant enjoys a rich history. The originally the headquarters of the Harmar Coal Company. Purchased in 1988, the building was transformed into retail space, including antiques and a bookstore. Café tables were soon added amongst the book shelves, Over the years, The Hartwood Restaurant has evolved into a charming and unique place for meals, drinks, and events. The elegant dining rooms and a pub featuring hand-tooled woodwork and stained glass artwork.
The Hartwood also features outdoor dining in a garden-like atmosphere, complete with a wood burning fireplace. Whisper’s Pub features an eclectic wine list from around the world with more than a dozen different wines by the glass, as well as seasonal cocktails, craft beers, and wine flights.
Enjoy the many different spaces our restaurant has to offer, including the intimate tables in our dining rooms, Whisper's Pub, dining al fresco, and private rooms for parties. It's the perfect location for your next meal or event.

                                                                          Lovely, quaint, very comfortable restaurant. My husband & I celebrated an anniversary & birthday with this dinner reservation, however I did not alert the staff of this. Our waitress overheard heard us talking & presented me with a sweet little treat with a candle! What a lovely gesture. Our dinners were excellent! My husband had the filet & I had the salmon. Both were cooked as ordered, as were the side dishes. This place is as good as any high end downtown restaurant.

                                                                          Always a great choice. The menu offers a lot of classic favorites as well as some very interesting and delicious options. The atmosphere is very welcoming and fun to look around. I would definitely recommend coming here.

                                                                          We’ve been here several times previously and never were disappointed. Last night was disappointing. The pasta dish literally tasted like a can of tomato sauce had been poured on rice noodles. Very bland. The fish sandwich was good, but not fantastic. Most of it was bread with the fish portion being relatively small. The coleslaw was not good and needed something probably salt or onion? The service was good, but we felt like we were annoying the server. There were three disabled individuals dining at the restaurant, but only one handicap space for the entire parking lot Probably in compliance with the law, but annoying for these individuals nevertheless .

                                                                          Not a great server. Very standoffish and not nice at all. Also my son got violently ill a few hours after. Not sure if it had anything to do with the food but it seems that’s what it was.

                                                                          Our waitress was very sweet and polite. The food was not only very appetizing but also visually appealing. We had the Mahi Mahi and the crab/shrimp with a creme Brule dessert. Our compliments to the chef and staff. The atmosphere was perfectly set with beautiful lighting and interesting artwork all over to look at. Not our first time nor our last. Thank you for a wonderful date night.

                                                                          My husband ordered the Turkey Devonshire and I ordered the Cottage Pie. Both were absolutely delicious! We shared a crème brûlée for dessert. We agreed it was the best we have ever had. Thank you for an incredible meal.

                                                                          The food was “good” our waitress - not so much -we had to ASK for a bread plate and asked two times for a water refill but never received one- we ordered or drinks and a appetizer and got those and finished before she even came over to take our order- she NEVER came over to check on us - the only person to check was a young man who took our dirty plates - we asked him for water refills but those never came - we made a reservation and included that we were celebrating a birthday but nothing was ever mentioned about that- why do you include that question when placing a reservation if you won’t even bring it up ??
