In 1688, Joseph Haviland built a tidewater gristmill that provided the locally-grown grains to a nearby bakery that supplied farmers and tradesmen with bread. It was the first public oven in New York State. Haviland’s Old Grist Mill and the public bakery were community gathering places for two centuries.

Inspired by Joseph Haviland’s noble efforts, the Haviland Kitchen & Bar has been established for our neighbors. A place for our community to gather and share food and drink that are crafted of the finest in-season regional ingredients.

                                                      We had dinner with another couple and the experience was fabulous. The staff was very friendly and on point, always available to answer questions and provide service. The food was excellent too. I will be going back and highly recommend Havilland.

                                                      A neighborhood restaurant bar. It is good at that level, but expect no more. The reviews here are a bit misleading and suggest diners who do not frequent more elaborate restaurants. The problem with OpenTable reviews is that in absence of a common standard, neighborhood establishments can receive reviews disproportionate to those received by restaurants in more competitive markets, who excel beyond the local restaurant demographic, but are judged by different expectations. This which can mislead when planning an evening beyond your own neighborhood.

                                                      This was my fifth time at Haviland kitchen. Each time the service is top-notch. Extremely friendly, and attentive. They really care, and value their customers. It’s a small restaurant, yet comfortable enough where you’re distanced enough from others. Very cozy ambience. And most importantly, the food is excellent. Should you have any room left for dessert, definitely try one! Please note though, they don’t open till 5 PM each day, and reservations are definitely recommended. I highly recommend Haviland Kitchen. I promise you will not be disappointed.
