Off the record, Hawk ’N’ Dove is basically a Washington monument. It reflects an older Washington that believed in politics, not just politicking. Hawk ’N’ Dove is where you can sip an Old Fashioned, hear political talk, and mingle with everyone from the black-suited, brown-shoed lobbyists, to the neighborhood folk that have been in this town since the Carter administration. I had a reservation and I showed the guy at the front, and he said that they already “did” their reservations (no idea what that means). The reservation was not honored. We had to sit in the bar area and while there saw many people come and go without reservations and were sat in the main dining area.

Love this place. It was so fun when we were in our 20-30s. It’s still fun. The food quality was very good, a little too much spice on the grouper. Was rather strange that they had “run out” of Cesar. Salad at 5:45 pm The service was very good, however they didn’t have a sufficient number of staff; they truly hustled but they need 1-2 more to serve.

Food and drink took forever to arrive and when it did we were told they only had half the elements on the menu. Very odd. Wont be back.

It was amazing. We had 11 people and they opened a section for us to make sure we could be taken care of. The food was amazing and everyone was so kind and friendly! Thank you so much for making this a perfect place for our birthday celebration!

Food and service were excellent. It's a significant step up from your usual "bar food." Service was fast and our waiter was attentive.

My cousin came in from out of town to witness a piece of history on Monday and we wanted to avoid some of the expected madness in DC while still getting that DC feel. We knew Hawk n Dove was the right place for that! Food and service were both great and they had so many TV’s that no matter what you’re trying to watch, you’ll have a view! Will be back 100% to try the friend pickles and Cuban!!!!

The manager seated us then we waited 15 minutes before asking for water & a server. Our server was very flustered. He said he was working the bar too. So we tried to be patient. It was lunch time & busy but not slammed. Huge lag times between getting him back to complete the order. Our appetizers came w our main order and our order was all wrong. I never did get the flatbread I ordered & it took a very long time to get the sweet potato fries we ordered instead of regular fries. The manager offered to discount the order but I’m not sure he did. He was working hard but we got the feeling they thought we were trying to take advantage instead of being hugely apologetic. We were extremely nice and patient.

We went to DC for vacation. A tour guide recommended us here- the service could’ve been better. Our waiter just brought out our drinks but not our food. She never went back to check up on us, she didn’t offer us refills. We had to hunt down other staff and ask for our check.
