Hooked is a waterfront café, beer garden and restaurant located in Marahau; the gateway to the Abel Tasman National Park. Hooked was opened in 2002 by the Alborn family. Zoe Alborn has managed Hooked since its opening day and remains just as obsessed as she has ever been to delivering a wonderful dining experience for every visitor.

The interior of Hooked has two beach house style dining rooms, both of which are adorned with an impressive collection of seashells, driftwood, crayfish pots and other vintage nautical objects. Even after multiple visits to Hooked, visitors find plenty of interesting pieces still felt to discover.

Local Marahau village residents and visitors to the Abel Tasman National Park converge on Hooked each afternoon to sit, chat, quench thirsts and welcome the stunning sunsets across Tasman Bay.

This place was excellent on every level. Waiting staff friendly helpful and polite. Every mouthful of food full of flavour and delicious. Wine excellent and mostly local choices (which we like). They even made me one of the best decaf coffees I’ve had. Lady who owned it was sitting near us and also very helpful. We are only in the village for 2 nights and we are going again tonight - that’s how much we liked it. If you are in town definitely go here and if you are somewhere near make a detour to come.

Very welcoming fabulous place. Food was delicious and our waitress was very helpful with menu choices - recommend the Kokoda Ceviche as a sharing starter! Very popular so good idea to book.

We booked belatedly on a Friday afternoon for a Friday evening. Online it said there wasn’t a table available inside for us. However I booked and asked if they could call to confirm if we could sit inside. There were 12 of us (3 families) and being early October not quite warm enough to be outside after the sun disappears. They called to confirm they could accommodate us inside the restaurant. Yay! We had drinks to start outside in the beer garden in the sunshine. Glorious! Food was delicious and great portions. Service was amazing. However there was no printed kids menu which was a little frustrating for kids who wanted to know options to choose from. Specials sheet would have been useful also. Thanks for having us. We were happy to not have to cook after finishing the Abel Tasman. Highly recommend!

Booked a table at Hooked for husbands birthday during our stay In Marahau. We ate from the specials board and it was all delicious and well presented. The staff were brilliant and we were so pleased that we chose to eat at Hooked

Who knew in this tiny town we'd have one of the best meals of our vacation? We had a reservation, showed up 20 minutes early, and the table was waiting and had our name on it. The food was outstanding, presented like a work of art, and the service was excellent. We had such a good experience, we pre-ordered breakfast so that we could eat there quickly before an early morning excursion. And after our excursion, we enjoyed drinks on the patio. Excellent in every way!

Varied entry selections offered as well as multiple beers and wine. Full bar options, catch of the day the night we dined was Snapper; very good. NZ beef, ribeye steak also very good. Few choices for dining in the area, this one is a keeper.
