Hugo's Frog Bar & Fish House opened its doors in February 1997 in the heart of Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood, next to sister restaurant Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse. Over Enjoy the city's finest seafood restaurant, Hugo's continues to be the destination for premier east and west coast oysters, crudos, frog legs, lobster and seasonal fish and shellfish, in addition to Gibsons Prime Angus and Gibsons Grassfed Australian steaks. An extensive wine list, classic cocktail list and selection of impressive signature desserts accompany the menu of fresh seafood, steaks and chops. Beautiful private dining and events spaces available. Gluten-free and vegan options available. Happy Hour Sun-Thurs, 3-6pm.

    Coming here for 20 years. First time food was just not good (except shrimp cocktail and the crab Mac/cheese) and the service was incredibly slow. Steaks just didn’t taste good - or have any taste except charcoal which is bad for medium rare. One glass of water the whole 3 hour ordeal is all we could get out of them for example. I saw an adjacent table go to server station to get there own water refill. A favorite when we visit the city is probably no more. Huge disappointment.

    Service was mediocre. Our server was obviously new although she was nice. It took over 30 minutes to get a bottle of wine. Wine was very good - Gruner Vetliner. Raw oysters are very good. Mussels were great but frites/fries were overcooked and not fresh. Caesar salad is excellent. Brussel sprouts are good. My wife got walleye which was excellent. The scallops entree was below average. Chocolate Mousse is a great dessert more than enough for the three of us and they comped for my son's bday. When you spend almost $500 I don't expect average food or well done fried (not fresh). I'll try again sometime maybe when it's not so crowded.

    Carl, our server was fantastic! The food and drinks as well. The ambiance was appropriate. I’d highly recommend this place!

    Service was terrible, Brittany, but we love Hugo’s overall. Been there no less than 30 times, but worst service ever this go around. She disappeared for 30 minutes and another waiter came by to take our food order. After that, she resused to even check on our table, we had to call her no less than 3 times by name to get more food, another bottle of wine, and the check. Go to Hugo’s, just don’t get Brittany as your waitress.

    Service was awful for a Gibsons/Hugos experience. Bread was good, drinks were great, oysters meh, steaks and salads good. 400$ check and we had to ask for bread, silverware, and more cocktails.

    When my dinner date received her steak it was burnt top and bottom. The waiter appeared to look right at it without acknowledging the mishap. We were not asked once about our meal. The waiter quickly ran off in hope of avoiding us. My date said she will never accompany me to another dinner at Hugo's Frog Bar..

    Great overall experience, my girlfriend and I went for an anniversary and the attention to detail in the fact that we were celebrating an occasion was noted by not only our server, but the hostess, and other staff members too. The server was very personable, friendly, and was knowledgeable about the menu. Great ambiance, great time, would go again for another special occasion.
