Situated on level 33 of The Shard, Hutong at The Shard serves the fascinating and diverse cuisines of Northern China and is based on the much-loved restaurant of the same name in Hong Kong. Hutong at The Shard’s cuisine takes its inspiration from the dishes served in the imperial palaces of what was then Peking. Based on the ‘Lu school’ cuisine of Shandong Province, the menu artfully captures the subtlety and surprises of Northern Chinese cooking. A cocktail selection inspired by ingredients used in traditional Chinese medicine and stunning interior, complete with traditional Chinese red lanterns and beautiful hand-carved wood-panelled ‘Moon Gates’, offer London diners a new destination restaurant with panoramic views over London’s skyline.

Compared to the past visit it feels the food has got much more greasy and oily. This can happen when Junior cooks are brought in and rapidly trained. The issue is it’s always easy to cook with more oil. But an experienced chef and their team shouldn’t use that hack. This is a premium place with a premium value offering — so the technique of extra oil to create that cooking efficiency should not be used. That’s for the low market places and this was disappointing to see the decline in standards at Hutong.

Water was requested but never provided. The cocktail arrived, but I had to wait a long time for my glass of wine. The food was good, so I can't complain about that. Considering the 15% service fee, I shouldn't have paid it because of the aforementioned problems, plus I heard one of the server’s was griping about customers; this isn't the Shard I recall. Also the tables and chairs could do with a refresh. would I go again? No.

Sunday brunch starters mass produced felt similar to what you get from supermarket Main course sweet and sour chicken and spicy prawns quite nice, sea bass was bland Expensive for what you receive, paying for location imo

The food overall was not enjoyable. I didn’t even get the chance to finish my meal before it was taken from the table. Afterwards the waiter started to clean the table while we were still sitting there. The meals were overpriced and for cost it was not worth it. Overall poor service.
