Located in the historic Fulton Market district of Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood, il Carciofo is a Roman Italian restaurant drawing inspiration from the restaurants and markets in one of Chef Joe's favorite cities, Rome. The restaurant offers a seasonal menu of elevated yet familiar Italian fare with traditional antipasti, Roman-style pizzas, hand-rolled pastas produced daily in a dedicated pasta lab and market-driven mains that highlight the season's bounty.

    Great food and service. Only disappointments were the carbonara (way too salty) and the zabione e berries (a bit too runny). Look forward to going back to try more dishes.

    Wonderful food and such great service! Highly recommend this new restaurant by Joe Flamm. We had the suppli ragu, carciofo alla giudia, carbonara, and rigatoni alla amatriciana. All delicious!

    Wow. Incredible. Chef Joe and team crushing it. Food was unbelievable, service was tight and atmosphere was perfect. Cheers to Steph for taking perfect care of us. Can’t wait to come back.

    I was excited to visit and get a taste of Roman food that I've missed from past trips. First impression was that we did not expect the restaurant to be as big as it was and be so busy. The service was good but clearly hectic. Food overall was solid and tasty, but nothing exciting that you couldn't find at other Italian/pasta focused restaurants in Chicago. Maybe a good place for a group or work dinner for shared plates. We wouldn't make a special trip for it.

    We were super excited to try this restaurant as we loved Rosemary so much. It did not live up to the hype. Many dishes were extremely salty and fatty without much flavor. Our server was very kind and attentive and the restaurant itself is adorable. Was disappointed there were no chocolate dessert items. The pistachio gelato was our favorite and seemed like very high quality.

    The food was delicious and the service was fantastic! Can’t wait to come back and try more dishes. If you come here (and you should), you must order the carbonara.

    Truly average. And somewhat surprised, based on RoseMary and BLVD. Had to have menu explanation (too much Italian-we are avid restaurant goers, and can usually understand listings). Appetizer calamari was bland, and small portion. Sausage fennel pizza was very tasty. Entree veal was overcooked, needed the sauce (which was good, not great) and appetizer portion. Potatoes again good, not great and poor presentation (cheese? Looked like a gluey film)
