“Girasole” stands for sunflower in Italian. A flower that grows in abundance in fields all across 4 different provinces in northern Italy. A classic northern Italian trattoria with daily fresh ingredients & house made pasta dishes served w/ stellar service & exceptional wine & specialty drinks. Providing our guests the best in Italian cuisine we have to offer with a combination of 50 years of experience.                                                                   Food was great but we felt very rushed. Wanted to order appetizer first with cocktails and then main course but we weren’t allowed to do that. So we ordered our whole meal, obviously went too slowly with the apps and drinks because they kept trying to take our plates away. Soon as we were done the main course was served and the plates had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. So it wasn’t very relaxing, less enjoyable than we expected, but the food was quite good.

                                                                  Food was delicious. Gnocchi melted in my mouth! Great value for restaurant week. Service was very attentive. Great spot for a friends night out or a date night.

                                                                  The sauces were outstanding!!! I had the veal ravioli and my wife had the Carbonara pasta. Each were fantastic and the sauce was completely different. It was hard to decide which was better. One of the best Italian restaurants we've been to in quite a while. Very small setting as max capacity is 49 people. Service was wonderful. Will definitely return. Compliments to the chef. The only negative I could give this place is the 3% add on for use of a credit card, but this is becoming universal in Chicago so I guess it's the future.

                                                                  Entrees were superb as were first course pastas. Beet salad also a hit with those who had them. Owners and staff make you feel welcome and care about your experience. Lots of choices for Italian food in Chicago but Il Girasole definitely a top one.

                                                                  This restaurant is amazing. It is the most authentic Italian food we have ever tasted so far in the United States. It is for sure our favorite when we feel like having some food that reminds us home. Their saffron risotto is better than my mom’s! Pappardelle alla bolognese, tiramisu and risotto con ossobuco are definitely recommended. Service is great, they make you feel welcomed and at home. Good job guys!

                                                                  We really enjoyed this place. We got the Tre Polentine, which were 3 mini polenta topped with 3 different toppings. We got one of their Specials appetizer, which was a thick focaccia w sauce and melted cheese on top. We also shared the Tagliolini al Limone and they even plated it on 2 separate dishes for us, instead of having us do it. The little nice touches. Recommend.
