Insalata's Restaurant is moving into it's 28th year of the community minded restaurants in San Anselmo. Insalata's receives Bib Gourmand from Michelin for it's 15th year in a row.
Our goal at Insalata's has always been to bring luscious Mediterranean food, gracious service and a warm atmosphere to our diners. For over 28 years we have shared this experience of intimate dining and joyful celebrations in a variety of ways. First and foremost as a fine dining restaurant with our beautiful private Siena room in which to sit and relax and enjoy a meal. We also offer take out dining for those days when time is of the essence, or catered affairs where we bring great food and staff into your home or venue. Our guests have become family and we have grown together in the community in which we all live and work. Everyone at Insalata's is extremely proud to be a part of this extended "village" family.

First and foremost ... extra special shout out to our wonderful server, Sharon. Saturday was our third time at Insalata's since we discovered this fabulous and delectable restaurant. We came with different couples on our first two visits but this trip was just the two of us for my husband's bday. I didn't mention anything about the special-ness of this day as he's an understated fellow but boy were the cocktails and dishes perfect for a celebratory dinner! The eggplant fries are delic (ordered all three trips!) and we LOVED the beat salad. Could not have been more perfectly prepared. We also ordered the very unique lamb burger with zoug spiced fries (YUMS!) as well as the ricotta gnocchi which was a decadent treat with excellent Fall flavors (the butternut vodka sauce and brown butter pinenuts - MUAH!). We were embarrassed at how little we had left to bring home (normally we are half at the restaurant, half for leftovers people). This is the second time we were lucky enough to be under Sharon/s per view and, just like our first visit, she was lovely, kind, attentive and a true delight. Thank you, Sharon!! Hope to be back soon!

Thanksgiving dinner was very good. We had the traditional turkey dinner and pumpkin pie. The salad was tasty and the tiny soup was perfect, as we did not wish to fill up before the main course. The turkey was tasty, and the pumpkin pie was yummy, Our waiter, Trevor, was responsive and very pleasant . The main problem was that we had "outdoor seating." The heaters were not adequate to keep us from feeling cold.

Our Thanksgiving 2024 dinner was outstanding from beginning to end. Bread and little nibbles (olives, roasted pecans) were followed by a shot glass of truffled celery root and cauliflower soup and a copious salad featuring persimmons, fennel, endive and walnuts. For mains, we got a choice between turkey plus trimmings, grilled salmon and mushroom-stuffed squash. We chose the turkey and were glad – a generous serving of sliced bird with yummy gravy, buttery mashed potatoes, sweet potato rounds, wild rice stuffing, blue lake green beans and cranberry-orange-ginger relish. Everything was excellent and copious enough to take home the makings of another meal. Our dessert was a double chocolate bavarian cake with caramel sauce – superb. A couple of glasses of good wines and coffee rounded out a marvelous meal.

Insalata's has been our favorite for over 20 years - for special days like Thanksgiving, and everyday dining out! Their take-home options likewise! Always a vegan option, and lots of attention paid to special dietary needs.

We had never eaten a Thanksgiving meal in a restaurant before and since there were only three of us this year we decided to try Ensalada. Everything form the appetizers to the soup to the.main courses was fantastic. We do not generally like turkey and Thnaksfiving food, but they prepared it in such a way that it was unique and delicious. The service was also fantaric. We were with my 100 year old mom and the servers were incredibly patie t and accomodating. We arrived at noon and had an incrsdibly leisurely meal, even though our time there overlapped with their busiest hour. We never felt rushed and enjoyed every seco d. We will return!
