We don't take ourselves too seriously at Jax Fish House. Two things we do take seriously? The freshness and sustainability of our seafood. You know fresh fish when you see, smell, and taste it-and thanks to modern delivery technology, we bring in that freshy-fresh seven days a week. Sustainability is a little more complicated. Not all commercial fisheries are created equal. That's why we work closely with our suppliers and science-based organizations to ensure that every single thing we serve is responsibly sourced. We consider the stocks of the species we source to prevent overfishing and we work with suppliers who harvest in ways that have minimal impacts on marine environments.

    Absolutely loved happy hour! The caviar was seasoned perfectly, the house oysters were delicious, the lobster deviled eggs, perfection. Brian can draw a mean SpongeBob

    From the front of the house, to the back, everyone was connected to the experience. Very attentive and the food was DELICIOUS. The brussel sprouts were fresh and prepared well, the bacon fat cornbread so flavorful. I had the seared peppercorn tuna and it was memorable. Alex, our waiter , was incredibly personable and gave excellent feedback on the food options. Definitely would be a regular if I lived close!! Thank you all, for making this my favorite food experience in Denver!

    The food was delicious. Tried the gumbo, hush puppies, calamari, tuna and cat fish; all very tasty. Atmosphere was decent. Serve was okay had to ask for a refill on drinks and took a bit to get.

    Jax never disappoints. I’ve been coming here since 1992 when I started a business across the street on Wazee—and the street was much grittier! Today, Jax is my go-to for oysters and seafood of all kinds. Last night I had the Blue Crab Cacio e Pepe and it was simply sumptuous! Creamy and rich, with plenty of crab, and a light dusting of fine brown butter crumbs to add a light note of texture. My friend had the scallops and they were equally top-notch. Perfectly seared outside and delicate inside, with just a hint of citrus that let the full scallop taste shine through. Since it was my friend‘s birthday, we topped off the dinner with the Brulé Keylime tart. Another home run, with rich, custardy Keylime flavor, a solid graham cracker crust that didn’t overwhelm. My only comment would be that I would’ve liked a slightly thicker, harder crunch on the Brulé. Overall, a fantastic evening. Jax has a great vibe, and even the soundtrack music was a joy.

    This is a go to for me when I am going to a show downtown. The service and food are always good. A great place to eat and hang out before a show.

    The food was excellent, service was very good, and overall it was wonderful. We will be back. Make sure to make a reservation though.

    Jax had the ambience of a restaurant at a wharf. Cooking salmon can be a very delicate process and to combine it in a Wellington dish would seem unlikely. The salmon Wellington was phenomenal! We also had the chop and that too was cooked perfectly! It was tender, juicy with the correct color and temperature. If that wasn’t good enough, the service at the bar and at the table were also phenomenal! This was our first time at Jax. Having been to several other seafood restaurants of the same caliber in Denver, we have to say that this is one of the best! Five stars in all categories!

    Went to Jax for the first time since covid. LoDo Denver. We had been a frequent customer at this location, always great food and service. We were celebrating a birthday and wanted to have a good experience. The first negative that hit us was the automatic 20% fee added to the check to take care of staff. Apparently this is a thing now. Ok, we can live with that. I did inform the restaurant during the reservation phase that this was a special event. In times past, my wife would receive a card with a complementary 1/2lb of peel and eats for next time. Not this time. Nothing. Big negative. The second negative was the lack of real service for our table. I had to ask several times for a water refill. Generally not a good sign. The place was not packed, and it just felt like we didn't gain as much attention as bigger tables did. Ok, I finally got water but the customer shouldn't have to keep asking for something simple. At the end of the meal, we were again informed about the 20% fee, and any extra tip would go directly to the waiter. I don't like stiffing waitstaff even if I think the service could have been better so I added $10 to the total. No offers for a complementary dessert. I want to say the food was very good. The experience itself led something to be desired. We will think long and hard before we go back. Shame, the place was our favorite.
