Self-proclaimed as the oldest line cook in Houston, Jonathan opened Jonathan’s The Rub with the purpose and mission of providing guests with excellent food in an unmatched dining experience; a mission that Jonathan passionately maintains today. You’ll notice our restaurant features an open kitchen where diners can see, smell and hear the behind-the-scenes events of Jonathan and the other cooks preparing their dishes. Love this restaurant and is so close to home. We would go more often if it wasn’t so loud. But we continue to go because of quality of food and outstanding service.

Always personable service, a wide menu full of choices and specials, a full bar with top shelf drinks and a lovely atmosphere. One of our neighborhood favorites for more than twenty years!

We brought out of town guests to the restaurant and the food was wonderful. This is the first time our service was actually mediocre which we were surprised. There were very few tables as we had a late lunch and the waiter just really seemed to forget about us throughout the experience. Unfortunately, this happened when we had a guest, so it was a bit of an embarrassment since we raved about the restaurant. We will continue to be regulars as we love this restaurant. We suspected this was just an off day. All great restaurants have a few.

The waitstaff was very attentive and the food was served in a timely manner. I ordered a Caesar salad, which was good, and pecan crusted trout. The fish could have had a little more flavor

If you're looking for a place that combines outstanding hospitality with delicious food, look no further than Jonathan's The Rub on Campbell . While it's proudly owned by my brother, I can assure you that the experience here speaks for itself, and it's one of my go-to spots whenever I'm going to actually not cook! On our most recent visit, we had the pleasure of trying the special Sunday Fried Chicken dinner. My three dining companions absolutely devoured it! The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, with just the right amount of seasoning—everything you'd want in a comforting, classic dish. The sides were equally impressive and complemented the chicken perfectly. As for my own meal, I couldn't resist the redfish, and it did not disappoint. It was so fresh and expertly prepared. The delicate, flavorful taste of the fish paired beautifully with the sides. It’s clear that Jonathan's commitment to high-quality ingredients shines through in every dish. What really sets this place apart, however, is the service. The staff at Jonathan's The Rub is attentive and friendly, always making sure that every guest feels at home. You can tell they genuinely care about creating a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring a great dining experience. Whether you're in the mood for classic comfort food or something a bit more refined, Jonathan's The Rub delivers on all fronts. The food is fantastic, the hospitality is top-notch, and the atmosphere makes you feel like you're dining with family. Highly recommend!

Majority of breakfast items barely warm. Waffle was room temp. English muffin was rock hard. Service unbelievably slow. Coffee was last item received after we asked for it three times. Also had to ask for syrup twice. It was not warm.

Jonathan’s is a neighborhood restaurant. That is the highest praise I can offer. Both locations have identical menus but with very different decors. Interesting how decor affects vibe. We bounce back and forth.
