We couldn’t have chosen a better place to have dinner on New Year’s Eve! The hour drive was 100% worth it! The food and service were absolutely exceptional! Definitely will be coming back!

Made this reservation for our 30th anniversary to go out and watch one of my husbands favorite bands and have dinner. I requested specific tables for the view of the band. Got to the restaurant and was stuck all the way in the back corner with a completely obstructed view. We explained to the host what we had requested a couple weeks ago and that it was our anniversary. He didn’t seem to care and told us we could wait around for one of those tables to open (with the people who did not reserve a table). Thankfully after an hour a table a little closer opened with a partial view and our waitress moved us. She was great. We would have left and gone somewhere else but there is a $75 cancellation policy so we felt we had to keep the reservation even though we were stuck in a corner with no view.

Had reservations for 8:30 and was promptly seated to only wait, not even acknowledge for 20 minutes before my husband went up to the host stand and wait there 5 minutes, than sat back down for another 10 minutes until our server arrived. She was polite and apologized several times but it really set our mood for the night. We get when restaurants are busy but the 3 tables around us we're empty. Food was ok, drinks an old fashioned and French martini were not good at all but we didn't complain. .

Had reservations however the hostess had no idea where to seat us. First seat was to be at a table that was way too small to have dinner at for 3 people. Steak was so tough could not chew it. The steak tasted like a dirty grill! The mushroom ravioli had the same dirty taste to the bison sauce. Salad was so full of onions that it was not edible! Had to ask for napkins and silverware. There were two people behind the bar but only one server for the upstairs seating area! Place as over priced for very poor food and service. $177 later and still had to find something for dinner. Not a good way to celebrate a birthday and the new year!

We went to Kankakee Grill on New Years Eve. They had a prime rib special that was excellent. I had the prime rib, my dinner mate had a filet mignon. The soup of the day was lobster bisque, and delicious. The steak was grilled to perfection and the prime rib was just as I like it. Above all the food, the service was superior. From the greeter at the host stand to our waiter and bus service. Everyone was cordial and professional. It was a great experience and I would recommend it. The regular menu is diverse with some unusual items. It is a bar atmosphere, but the noise and the food was not bar-like at all. We have been there before and will go again. Not very expensive and worth every cent.

We’ve eaten multiple times at Kankakee Grill South Bend, always very consistent on food and service. New years Eve we went to the New Buffalo location for the prime rib special. Service was good, but the prime rib was over cooked and dry, was very disappointed. We should have sent it back, but did not.

We have eaten at Kankakee Grill many times. I don’t think we have ever had a bad experience until Christmas Day. They had a special dinner for $35 a person. Which was Nueske‘s ham, green beans, au gratin, potatoes, super salad, and bread pudding for dessert. The first plates that they brought out looked terrible. The ham on my plate was half the size of what was on my husband‘s plate and it was all dried out. Half my plate was full of green beans. Plus the food was cold. The server sent over the manager who offered to remake both plates which we did. When we got them back, the ham looked fresh. The manager had said that he would be back to check on us when he brought the new plates. But he never came back again. Very disappointed. The au gratin potatoes were half hidden under the slices of ham, and when we looked at it, it looked like they scraped it out of the bottom of the dish. The apples were lukewarm. The beans now took up less than a quarter of the plate. The turkey wild rice soup was good as was the salad. When we got the dessert, the bread pudding was very dry. All in all it wasn’t the special Christmas dinner we expected. Very disappointed.

We opted for Kankakee Grill on Christmas Day instead of The buffet at Four winds casino. I have to say the service was good, but for my dinner I expected more. The food was just so so, although my wife ordered a pizza which she says was good.
