In 1998, Buddy Guindon, his wife Katie, and his brother Kenny opened Katie's Seafood Market in Galveston, Texas. For more than 20 years now, Katie's Seafood Market has provided the highest quality of products available to its customers. The majority of seafood comes from local fishermen and shrimpers, including Red Snapper, Grouper, Golden Tile Fish, Flounder, Oysters, Shrimp, and Blue Crabs. A producer contacted Guindon in the hopes of doing a reality show about his family business. In 2015, the reality show 'Big Fish Texas' came to life on National Geographic. As a supporter of the local economy, In September of 2019, Buddy opened Katie’s Seafood House, next to the market. Katie’s seafood market supplies the restaurant with all fresh seafood. We take pride in being the only local seafood restaurant on the island that brings fresh fish straight from the boat and to your table.

Our waitress Carla was wonderful. The food was excellent. It was nice being able to bring our dog and sit on the heated deck. Will be back the next time we are in town.

Food was very good. Staff was friendly and helpful. Glad made an reservation. Parking can be an issue during happy hour as well as seating.

We went int Katie's for restaurant month and order the special. I had the Costal Mexican (Fish) and my husband had the New Orleans (steak) meal. I have never known my husband not to eat his steak or take home the left overs. He ate only 1/3 of the steak stating it was over seasoned and the rice was also the same. My fish was overcooked and had no real flavor either. Even the desserts were not great. We took a couple bites and took the res home but ended pitching them the next day as they were still not the best. The bread pudding was hard and the tres leches was dry. Honestly nothing was special about the mean. We spent over $100 for the meal $39 each meal plus drinks. However it was a waste of money. We did complain to the manager who just apologized stating he would tell the kitchen manager. Again, for the money we felt we deserved a better meal than we had. We doubt we will ever return to Katie's nor will we recommend this restaurant.

Our first time, had heard great things about Katie's. There were 5 of us coming from Sugar Land, Manvel and Alvin and we came for my Mom's 93rd birthday. Our server, Dez B was really patient with us especially my Mom who asked her a million questions and her opinion on food and cocktails. She also split the check for us. I really appreciated her cheery attitude as well. We loved the food, had a hard time choosing, so we'll have to come back for more!

We dined at Katies to celebrate my birthday. We had reservations and were seated immediately. The restaurant is one big open room and quite noisy. Service was prompt, attentive and overall excellent. Katies is known for their fresh seafood and it did not disappoint. I had three kabobs with shrimp, pineapple, bell pepper and sweet onions served over rice. Each kabob had a different seasoning. However, my husband had a special featuring prime rib and his steak was overcooked and tough. For dessert I had limoncello cake and my husband had bread pudding, both were excellent. I would highly recommend Katies for a casual dining experience as long as you stick with the seafood.

We're local so Katie's is one of our go to places. Food is always great as is the service. The place is usually crowded and the noise level inside is pretty high. So my only recommendation is if you are expecting to have a conversation trying to get seated on the deck is a good plan.

The food and service were excellent. We had reservations and they immediately sat us. We had the ceviche and grouper done creole style and both dishes were great. We are from out of town and wished we had a place like this back at home.

Amazing!!! The oysters were huge and so fresh. Our server was so sweet and very knowledgeable of not only the menu but seafood in general. We had to finish with a piece of the limoncello cake which was sooo good! Next time we visit the area this will be our first stop.
