In 1998, Buddy Guindon, his wife Katie, and his brother Kenny opened Katie's Seafood Market in Galveston, Texas. For more than 20 years now, Katie's Seafood Market has provided the highest quality of products available to its customers. The majority of seafood comes from local fishermen and shrimpers, including Red Snapper, Grouper, Golden Tile Fish, Flounder, Oysters, Shrimp, and Blue Crabs. A producer contacted Guindon in the hopes of doing a reality show about his family business. In 2015, the reality show 'Big Fish Texas' came to life on National Geographic. As a supporter of the local economy, In September of 2019, Buddy opened Katie’s Seafood House, next to the market. Katie’s seafood market supplies the restaurant with all fresh seafood. We take pride in being the only local seafood restaurant on the island that brings fresh fish straight from the boat and to your table.

                                                                    Fish was very fresh, good portions and well prepared - wonderful. Very noisy and crowded - not high on ambiance, especially for price point of nicer dishes. Service was good. Overall fine though not what was expected given difficulty of reservation and pricing.

                                                                    This restaurant is definitely a favorite. People are great, food is over the top fantastic! The portions are huge so there is waste. We love it here!

                                                                    The food was fresh and good.Everyone in my party enjoyed the food. If you are wanting a quiet place to talk amongst yourself it’s a bit loud. We had reservations we were sat right away. I would recommend making reservations lots of people waiting for a table.

                                                                    The waitstaff greeted us as we arrived and we were seated at our table in just a few minutes. We were given menus and our server had drinks pretty quick. The only issue I had with the restaurant is the noise level in facility. The server was having problems hearing us and vice versa. The food arrived in a good time and it was hot and appetizing. Overall I was very pleased with our evening at Katies.

                                                                    Katie's is always a must stop dinner place for us when we come to Galveston. At our most recent visit, the food and service was beyond compare. Temporary food restrictions meant I thought I was not going to be able to enjoy my most favorite dish - their caldo. Erin, Veronica, and the chef set to work coming up with creative and tasty solutions that produced a caldo that I could enjoy. Their kindness and commitment to excellent customer service was exceptional.
