In 1998, Buddy Guindon, his wife Katie, and his brother Kenny opened Katie's Seafood Market in Galveston, Texas. For more than 20 years now, Katie's Seafood Market has provided the highest quality of products available to its customers. The majority of seafood comes from local fishermen and shrimpers, including Red Snapper, Grouper, Golden Tile Fish, Flounder, Oysters, Shrimp, and Blue Crabs. A producer contacted Guindon in the hopes of doing a reality show about his family business. In 2015, the reality show 'Big Fish Texas' came to life on National Geographic. As a supporter of the local economy, In September of 2019, Buddy opened Katie’s Seafood House, next to the market. Katie’s seafood market supplies the restaurant with all fresh seafood. We take pride in being the only local seafood restaurant on the island that brings fresh fish straight from the boat and to your table.

                                                                    The food was fantastic—really fresh and an overall great experience. However, I wish they hadn’t begun cleaning and closing the restaurant two hours before closing time. It made us feel rushed during our meal, especially when they started sweeping under our tables. Despite this minor inconvenience, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will definitely be returning.

                                                                    Great, fun, family owned restaurant that catches their own seafood. Boat to table! We (6) enjoyed the shrimp frogs, fried green tomatoes, stuffed oysters for appetizers. For mains, we had the Umami bowl, fried fish, Bam Bam Shrimp, crab cake and more. Everyone loved it.

                                                                    Enjoyed Katie’s for the first time on New Year’s Day. Noisy atmosphere, but great service. The crowd included all ages; kids welcome. Cocktail and food menus were expansive with something for everyone. Because it was NYD, my husband asked if we could have bowl of the blackeyed peas (offered as a side to the special) for an appetizer, and our waitress was happy to oblige. We thought his snapper ‘Galveston bake’ was the better of our entrees. Really liked that there were multiple ways to have your fish cooked. My grilled shrimp were a bit too spicy for my taste, but included 10 big shrimp! Next time we will save room for dessert - banana pudding looked great! We’ll certainly go back and recommend to anyone planning dinner in G’ton.

                                                                    I am gluten free and there were several options, including the chowder, which was amazing. It was so good, we went back the next day for more chowder on our way out of town! JT (server) is fantastic!

                                                                    We had a wonderful dinner with excellent service. We started with the crab claws and shared the sizzling grilled fish, crab and shrimp with onions and peppers. Came with tortillas and corn. Ashley was our server and was professional and thorough . Love this restaurant

                                                                    Fish was very fresh, good portions and well prepared - wonderful. Very noisy and crowded - not high on ambiance, especially for price point of nicer dishes. Service was good. Overall fine though not what was expected given difficulty of reservation and pricing.
