Continuing the legacy of Dallas' Original Steakhouse, Est. 1954, Kirby's Prime Steakhouse in Southlake, Est. 1999, is an award winning restaurant featuring Mid-Western, all natural, aged prime beef. Kirby's also offers fresh seafood, daily specials, and a spectacular collection of New and Old World wine housed in an impressive cellar of over 3,000 bottles. Chef seeks to introduce the culinary versatility of Kirby's cuisine to the newcomer, and to charm the well-educated diner with the tastes, colors, aromas, and preparation of the dishes Kirby's has to offer. Probably the 50th time my wife and I have eaten at the Kirby's in Southlake. Plus we had our 33 year old son with us. First off - great service, waiter was attentive, funny, and super fast on his feet. The ambience is always nice here - the right balance of Texas and stylish. Overall the food was good - but puzzlingly the steaks were the worst thing we had... We started with Shrimp Cocktail - they were large and fresh and plump. Very nice. We had a few whiskey sours which were superb - love when the bar know how to use foam in drinks. Next my wife had soup and I had salad. Both very good. Like their house dressing. My son ordered redfish - and it came with beans - he liked in and devoured it in about 5 minutes. But to the steaks - my wife ordered medium plus - and it came out less than medium rare. It was a 7 oz filet so nothing tricky. It was just way undercooked - and for prime beef - didn't have that awesome char you love on the outside. I ordered the wagyu surf and turf - and I can say without a doubt. I didn't get wagyu beef. It was very dense and harder to cut "the meat was stiff" - kind of an 'outback steakhouse' cut. The wagyu usually has such a high fat content it is soft soft soft with that awesome outside char. This was simply a very average steak, and a very bad steak for the price. Kirby's has been there 25 years or so - time for a fresh perspective in the kitchen in my opinion. Better QC from the exec there would be appreciated.

We got to the restaurant in time for our reservation. We were seated late. That was really, not a big deal. Our waitress was sweet as can be but all of our orders were wrong My husband got a ribeye steak that was cooked like a piece of leather when he asked for rare And I got lamb chops that I asked for medium well that got served to me bleeding out There were four of us, and my girlfriend‘s meal was served to her raw as well The manager did come over and re cooked all of our food, but we were sitting there for two hours with having eaten only bread and a salad so ended up just taking our food to go. It was a terrible experience. In addition, my lamb chops were returned to me over the risotto with the pre-existing blood on the bottom. In addition, I woke up this morning with the worst stomachache and have had issues all morning. I’m an extremely healthy person. This does not happen to me. We spend a lot of time at Kirby’s because we live up the street in Southlake, but I will tell you that I will not go back again. I am very disappointed. The assistant manager did comp our wine but we ended up paying $159 for food that got home and went in the trash. Severely disappointed ….

It was our first visit to Kirbys, and we will be back. The food was great, as well as our server, Armando.

I’ve been a loyal guest at Kirby’s for decades. The reason is simple… consistent, attentive, and friendly hospitality and incredible food every time!

Food and service was excellent. Way too loud with lots of folks yelling at each other. But overall, a very nice dining experience.

We love Kirby’s. We were sorry to hear about Keith’s passing. Cory gave us excellent service, & it was a wonderful Valentine’s Day meal.

Two hour dinner when the menu is limited and plenty of tables empty. Waiter was at the table for a total of 1 min over a two hour period. Food not good. Service bad

We had a wonderful dinner. Only problem was the noise level. Had asked for a back quiet table, but when we arrived for our reservation the hostess first offered us a table in the middle of the front room. She finally found us a table behind the fireplace that was acceptable. Richard was a wonderful waiter and anticipated our every need. The was a private room right behind us with a table of 6 men. That room would have been a much lower noise level, but evidently the hostess could not seat us in that room. We will be back.
