Located in the heart of Coral Gables, Kojin serves modern American cuisine with a Japanese twist. Helmed by Chefs Pedro & Katherine Mederos, Kojin offers an elevated dining experience and extensive menu, including a variety of flame-grilled dishes and fresh seafood, prepared using innovative culinary techniques.
Building on the success of the chefs' first restaurant which entered the Michelin Guide for two consecutive years, Kojin aims to serve guests the highest-quality ingredients at their peak seasonality and freshness, whether that means sourcing produce from local Florida farmers or importing ingredients from Japan.
Kojin's warm, stylish ambiance centers around its open kitchen where you can see the chefs at work. Kojin is available for private events upon request. Whatever the occasion, Chefs Pedro and Katherine hope to make you feel right at home at Kojin.

                            Chef Pedro Mederos is bringing a whole new attitude toward fine dining to Coral Gables. His and Chef Katherine's take on Asian-influenced American cuisine shows throughout the restaurant. The atmosphere is clean, warm, and intimate. Their choice of cutlery and glassware are exceptional and in keeping with their attitude of pure respect for the techniques and flavors of Japanese cuisine but reflected in fresh local ingredients. For example, their Kojin Salad is a nod to a Caesar but with surprises such as Salmon roe and Little Gem lettuce. The presentation of mussels is with a light green broth is more pleasant than a traditional garlic-flavored watered down wine. The magic they work with mushrooms is delightful, whether it is with tortellini in a rich sauce with tiny enoki or perfectly sliced and sauteed Porcinis. The treatment of seafood is also unique, with fennel on a snapper filet and Seared Scallops with White Bean and Pork Sauce. The unique and carefully curated wine list is designed to further enhance the experience. We can't wait to dive into the desserts. Bravo Chefs.

                            Phenomenal meal. Food, service and ambiance were all stellar. Can’t wait to go back. Chef Mederos is an artist and we’re fortunate he brought his talents to Coral Gables. (Pro Tip: Get an extra order of the Bao Buns and save yourself some time)

                            Amazing restaurant! Chef Pedro is a class act, very friendly and makes phenomenal food. The restaurant is surprisingly chill but still classy. Will happily go back regularly.

                            I was expecting a better experience specially on valentines. On arrival we were sat and waited over 30 minutes to get wine and the first course. An 8 course meal which became a dull experience. Each course took way too long, what should’ve have been an hour and a half experience became a 3 hour dinner. Most of the dishes were particularly salty, although the approach was creative it’s not an experience I’d repeat.

                            I appreciate the ambition behind Kōjin’s approach, and while some of the flavors and presentations were innovative, the execution didn’t quite deliver for me. The eight-course Valentine’s Day tasting menu was beautifully plated, but unfortunately, most of the dishes—aside from the hamachi sashimi (course two)—were over-seasoned, with an overwhelming saltiness. The excessive salt seemed to dull the other elements rather than enhance them, making the flavors feel less balanced and more one-dimensional. That said, service was excellent, especially on such a busy night, and the wines and sakes were truly enjoyable. I just wish the food had tasted half as good as it looked.

                            Highly original, beautifully prepared food--truly Michelin quality, with service to match. One dish was more imaginative than the next. Our party of six--all foodies who have traveled the world—rank it among our best meals. While Japanese inspired, the chef puts a modern spin on each dish. The price is very reasonable for the quality. This restaurant is an absolute gem--one of Miami's very best.
