Kumiko is a Japanese Dining Bar (ダイニングバー)* where food and drink are treated with equal reverence. Located in Chicago’s West Loop, Kumiko boasts incredible cocktails and spirits with exquisite food to pair.

Owner and creative director Julia Momosé blends Japanese ingredients and techniques to create an elevated menu of beverages and bites.

Whether you come to savor some of Japan’s finest saké or walk in for a lovely dinner with friends, Kumiko welcomes you with warmth and gratitude.

                                        Despite trying really hard to be Japanese, this place is far from it. Service tries but waiters slurred and stuttered through Japanese words they don't know If you like Daikon, you're in luck. Half the tasting menu you are tasting daikon. 1 hour after the meal and all I taste in my mouth is Daikon. Would not recommend tasting menu. We paid $600+ to be seated against a very strange curved wall. Atmosphere is generic

                                        We were suprised by the service charge for the tasting menu but had a great time. The servers were kind and food was extremely delicious. Would go again

                                        We went on Sunday evening, so the mood was mellow, which is what we were going for. Hospitality was superb, from a courteous host to attentive staff and a knowledgeable bartender. I wish more restaurants took a similar pride in creating such a relaxing experience for its patrons. Thank you for keeping the vibe calm and cozy!

                                        This was a very disappointing experience. 2 dishes of the tasting menu were stand out. 1 was good. The others were confusing / not executed well or just not what you’d expect from an expensive tasting menu. The beef arrived cold (though it was tasty). Our server also made our entire experience less than ideal. I’ve been to kumiko before and had a fantastic experience with drinks and ordering off the menu. This is why I had hoped for an amazing meal to celebrate my birthday. Very sad to be let down for the tasting menu for my birthday.

                                        Hands down some of the best cocktails! As for food we had the sandos with truffle and honey, gyozas, spicy aburi gunkan, ikura oysters, karaage, gobo and the yaki zakana... everything phenomenal. The tastes were unique and interesting and fresh. Service was `10/10 - everyone was knowledgeable and helped us order the perfect amount of food and tastes for us to enjoy. They paced the food perfectly too. 10/10 will 100% return. Thank you, Kumiko team, for a wonderful evening.

                                        An amazing experience every time. Food, drinks and service can’t be beat. It’s cozy and elegant. 10/10 would recommend.
