Nestled amongst riverside treetops on Southgate’s mid level, La Camera boasts two balconies with stunning views over The Yarra River and iconic Flinders Street Station. The interior is adorned with vintage black-and-white photographs depicting the history of the family that has owned and operated the restaurant since it opened in 2000. La Camera Southgate offers an array of authentic Italian dishes including unique Roman-style pizzas, authentic Pappardelle Ox Cheek from Trastevere-Rome and by far the most delectable Tiramisu in town. The emphasis is on quality ingredients, and fresh seasonal produce.

    It really has gone down in standard . We have a reunion of friends there often. The food was terrible. The service was poor . We had to ask for the table to be cleared twice! After many years going there we won’t be back. Very disappointing as the venue itself is in an excellent location.

    It was quieter than expected and I had no trouble getting a booking even on a Friday evening. Balcony table overlooking the river. Perfect for conversing with friends. Plenty of pasta and pizza choices and the food arrived really fast. Only thing is that you do need to provide your credit card to the online booking system at the time of booking the table.

    LaCamera is always good. It’s one of my favourite restaurants. The staff are great and then restaurant is in a really good location.

    Unfortunately we were seated against a wall without any view in a busy thoroughfare section of the restaurant. We didn’t have an opportunity to enjoy to advertised view of the city is spite of having a booking. The food was okay, but we expected more given the reviews and advertising. Service was good, the staff were a mixture of attentive and helpful and abrupt and brash, we had a lovely waiter once we were seated.

    A great location and setting for a pre-show dinner. Service was suitably paced. Generous sized serves.

    Disappointing experience. I have bern going Therese for la y years and always been very happy. On Thursday with 2 friends we had à booking at 5.45pm as we were going to a show. We arrived at 5.35pm, ordered our drinks which We got within minutes. We ordered our food at 5.50pm ( 2 risottos & 1 pizza) and We got it at 6.50pm!The food was probably nice but there was no time to enjoy it, no time for coffee or sweets either as the show at the Playhouse was starting at 7.30pm. To top it all, we had to wait to Pay the bill as the owner was on the phone, ignoring us. Eventually we settled our bill with a waitress. We never got a word of apology, and I will add that the venue was not busy at all when we arrived. At least an apology would have been appreciated.

    We had a great lunch, as a table of 10, including 4 kids and some fussy eaters. Everybody enjoyed their food, the service was quick (they even asked if we wanted to order our kids food when we ordered drinks, something we were grateful for as it helps keep them in their seats). We would be very happy to go back.
