La Gare French restaurant has been a local favorite for almost 40 years and two generations . Serving old world classic French cuisine by using fresh local ingredients, they pride themselves on still including soup and salad with every entree. Known for their table side carte service and escargot, Le Gare was voted most romantic restaurant by the San Francisco Chronicle.

    We’ve enjoyed many outstanding meals at La Gare over the years. However, our experience on Thanksgiving night was underwhelming. Although the waitstaff service was excellent, the kitchen seemed to be unprepared to handle the extra large number of covers that evening. We will definitely continue to dine at La Gare….but will probably avoid going on a holiday evening.

    The staff was wonderful taking care of so many with dignity and professionally. Prime Rib dinner was excellent.

    IT WAS LOUD, BUT IT WAS PACKED FOR THE HOLDIAY! We are still making more reservations to go back. This is our favorite restaurant in Santa Rosa!

    I go for the Beef Wellington which never disappoints. The salad is simple with a good basic dressing. The French onion soup was perfect. The chocolate mousse was just okay. But our waitress, Amy, was perfect.

    The food was excellent as usual . We enjoy the nice touch of soup and salad included . And they were both outstanding as well . The service was very friendly, attentive and never intrusive. It is nice to see a tradition continue .

    The service and staff were helpful, friendly. The atmosphere is quaint and allows a relaxed dining experience at your own pace. The food was excellent and had a wide variety that suited everyone’s tastes at the table.

    Every single person at our table hated our food. The chicken was over cooked and the beef Wellington was dreadful. The crust was underbaked and chalky in texture. Bothe steaks were overdone and dry. Will not be returning. Was saved the evening was the service, our server was delightful.

    We celebrated my wife’s birthday at La Gare French restaurant, and it was an unforgettable experience! The food was exquisite, the ambiance was elegant, and the staff were incredibly personable. The Beef Wellington was simply amazing, and the Duck à l’Orange was outstanding. The table-side flambé was a spectacular touch that added to the evening's charm. We couldn’t have asked for a better celebration!
