Savor the authentic tastes of Italy when you dine at La Marea. Located on the shoreline of CT in Old Saybrook, our family owned Italian restaurant prepares northern and southern Italian cuisine using a mix of the finest imports from Italy as well as fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Gluten Free and Vegetarian options are available. Enjoy your dining experience in either our dining room or be sure to reserve a seat at our conversational hi-top tables or at the bar in our lounge.

Important: when making a reservation through OpenTable there is an option to make a reservation at a high top table in the bar area or standard table which is in the dining room.                                                                                 Really enjoy the food here but the staff ruin the experience. Tonights hostess was very rude and unwelcoming. Despite our confirmed reservation, she forced us to sit next to the bathrooms with a cold draft from outside flowing against us for our entire meal. Before we sat at the cold table we asked to sit at the same size table but closer to the fireplace - both being empty - she refused saying they were reserved. I said we have a reservation and we’d like to sit closer to the fire. Again she refused. There were no “reserved” signs of the table nor is it allowed through the open table app. Its all “standard seating.” It was so cold that we had to wear our coats for the duration of the meal. NO ONE asked us how we or our meal was the entire evening. We then had the same terrible server, again. She has zero personality, never smiles, and gives u that overall feeling that you’re a bother. The people who later came in to fill the tables we weren’t allowed to sit at were then served their dinners BEFORE us. The entire experience was a slap in the face. How quickly this local restaurant has forgotten those of us who supported them throughout the pandemic. Buying to go food from them or eating outside in the winter to help keep their businesses afloat. Now the locals are relegated to the freezing table next to the bathroom when half the tables are empty and you have a reservation. And god forbid you show up without a reservation - theyll give you major attitude. Extra disappointing when they wont be open again until after Christmas. Should have been a special night. Dont recommend dining here ever. Order your food to go and enjoy it somewhere else.
