La Nacional has been feeding Spaniards and Latin Americans in New York since the 19th century from its historical brownstone in the heart of what was Little Spain. Today, our volunteer-run non-profit has opened its doors to create a community restaurant and gathering place for everyone to enjoy. The Society sponsors the visas of Spain top young chefs - providing them with an apartment in our brownstone to draw inspiration from La Nacional’s past and establishing a culinary epicenter in New York City for Spanish food. Our goal is to offer diners innovative cuisine, reasonable prices and a neighborhood atmosphere for everyone.

The Restaurant at La Nacional is the catalyst for significant cultural and community programming that reflects the Society’s 158 year-old mission. This includes free or low-cost apartments upstairs for artists-in-residence and opening our event space on the parlor floor to community events, cultural pursuits and charitable causes.

In addition to our restaurant space, La Nacional offers a newly refurbished, fully-equipped large event space on the parlor floor of our historic brownstone. With our expansive catering service, full bar, and premier staff, we can accommodate a wide range of unique events. The room can hold over 100 people and is equipped with audiovisual technology, including a large screen and a new sound and lighting systems. We have hosted conferences, classes, cultural events, concerts, meetings, weddings, private parties, film screenings, and more. La Nacional is a NYC treasure. The history alone is worth the visit. Always a truly delightful experience - the food, the drinks, the staff, the music and oh the reasonable prices. No TV sports. One of the few places where one does not feel gouged or rushed.

If you want authentic, is definitely Spain comes to you. We enjoyed, the tapas that are deliciously made, the seafood paella well prepared and seasoned. This time server was just not with it, we didn't mind because we love the food and service is always good. Their red sangria very good and all their cocktails + wines too. Olè!!! Will come back again & again.
