We make British food with a classic or modern slant. We source our ingredients from the local fields, woodlands and waters. Everything is cooked on the premises, including the sourdough bread and the icecreams.
The Good Food Guide (2023) says: "A fittingly quaint old building, complete with original features, given a suave modern twist via grey panelling and contemporary furniture. Chef-proprietor Martin Peacock has built his menu on classical French traditions and impeccable sourcing and there’s real creativity and originality on show here. The international wine list offers a decent but not overlong selection, with accessible pricing.

Vegetarian: we will always offer at least one starter and one main vegetarian choice. However, we cannot cater for vegans.

Due to current government Covid-19 rules, we cannot welcome a party larger than 6p. We welcome parties 8-12p on a general basis. However, for Saturday nights we are only able to accommodate a maximum of 8p. For larger parties (13–32), we are happy to create special menus which you and your guest preorder from. The latter would be available Wednesday to Friday, Saturday lunch, and Sunday lunch.You can only book a maximum of 6 people via Open Table. Please call us if your party is larger than that and we are happy to assist to find a suitable time for you.

Locale curato, cucina espressa con ingredienti di ottima qualità, servizio accurato, qualità complessiva superiore rispetto alla media dei locali di zona. Da migliorare la mise en place per un locale di qualità come questo.

The food at the Landgate is always excellent, but unfortunately our last visit was marred by very slow service - we arrived at 8pm and were not served our staters until 9. Maybe they were short staffed in the kitchen.

Dined here for my Husbands birthday last night. Service was spot on, waitress was warm and attentive. We enjoyed each course, food was amazing. We would recommend this restaurant to others!

Food was outstanding , just a tad salty for us as we don’t eat salt but amazing definitely worth a visit

Celebrating a family birthday, this turned out to be a perfect destination. From entering and receiving a warm welcome, we were given a seasonal menu and comprehensive wine list. We started with a cocktail, an alcohol free cocktail for the driver of the party, and free amuse-bouche. We ordered starters; wild chanterelle mushrooms on sourdough, a beetroot and goats cheese starter, and a lobster risoni, all delicious. Mains were Dover sole, and two Guinea fowl… perfect. One of the party was gluten free and felt confident and catered for. Can’t recommend it enough.

So delicious and one of the best places I’ve ever eaten. Everything was perfect from the bread, to the little free starters, the scallops (mmm) and the salads!! And then our wonderful mains. We’ll be back and will be recommending this place to everyone.

Yet another superb meal in the Landgate. The service is impeccable and the food is delicious. We both had scallops and then the venison - both were beautifully cooked and very tasty. A special mention for the venison pie which was amazing. We'll be back!

Booked this on the day as searched on open table and the stars and reviews plus menu interested us we were away for the weekend in an area new to us, the service was great although leaving the door open with the wind causing a chill not so much but that may have been people leaving, the food was very tasty the starter scallop dish was top notch(I’m a bit of a foodie and have dined Michelin many times this dish was fabulous) all the food was well prepared and flavoured would definitely eat there again and recommend.
