The Late August name derives from the joyful time of year when the Sears catalog would arrive at your doorstep, bringing a deep desire and wonderment to all who would receive it and begin feverishly circling the items that would hopefully arrive for Christmas.

Our restaurant, set in the previous Historic Downtown Sears building, seeks to bring that same wonder to guests through its atmosphere, service, and cuisine. Echoing the mission of Lucille's Hospitality, which is committed to “Serving the Past, Feeding the Future,” Late August’s menu explores the culinary heritages of Chef Chris Williams and Chef Sergio Hidalgo by bringing the dishes and flavors from both their youths and the experiences to date creating a culturally culinary celebration.

We are thrilled to introduce a brand-new Saturday brunch series, inspired by the restaurant’s recent collaboration with Hola Houston and InStyle Magazine in Mexico City. Bringing the flavors of the Mexico City event, this brunch will offer a unique fusion of Mexican and African American culinary traditions that captivated influencers and media abroad. Now, Houstonians can enjoy this one-of-a-kind menu crafted by Chefs Chris Williams and Sergio Hildalgo. In partnership with Tequila Región de México, the brunch will feature two specially crafted cocktails: the Mexican Negroni, featuring their blanco tequila, and a Sazerac showcasing their reposado, adding a perfect pairing to the vibrant flavors of the brunch menu.

This was our first chance to eat here, and we decided on it because of the reviews. Needless to say they were correct, the atmosphere was great, the food was incredible and our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. The chef also came out and chatted with us along with the manager/owner stopping by to check on us which was very pleasant. We will definitely be going back and would recommend this experience to all our friends.

Everything was great for our brunch. We had great recommendations. They each were perfect, highly recommended the BLT, and the green tomatoes with crab. We shared everything, and it was a perfect amount of food. The service was perfect as well. Will definitely be back.

pleasantly surprised by this new restaurant. Love the repurposed space of the old Sears building and this restaurant did not disappoint. Food was wonderful and staff was very attentive and knowledgable.

Everything was excellent! Paola, our server was extremely knowledgeable and friendly! We took all her recommendations and loved them. The LA bbq seafood was so flavorful. We met one of the owners, Danny and he gave us more background on the inspiration and culture behind the restaurant. I love their focus on giving back to the community and using local foods. Will definitely be back.

Food was good, service was great. Oddly there were only a few people dining the night we were there. We wondered if the location and lack of signage is keeping people from visiting.

OMG! This new Houston gem in the Ion District Building is amazing. Afro-Latin fusion in perfect balance and great wine choices to pair it with. The farm to table, locally grown (and purchased at a non-profit that dontes the food with hunger/nutritionally challenged). Great vibe & service. GO!!

The ambiance is really nice. It's quitee lovely! The food was good and server very nice but not very knowledgeable. Think he must've been new as he wasn't really able to answer many of our questions. The menu as a bit eclectic and not sure I loved the brunch options but was good overall.
