The Late August name derives from the joyful time of year when the Sears catalog would arrive at your doorstep, bringing a deep desire and wonderment to all who would receive it and begin feverishly circling the items that would hopefully arrive for Christmas.

Our restaurant, set in the previous Historic Downtown Sears building, seeks to bring that same wonder to guests through its atmosphere, service, and cuisine. Echoing the mission of Lucille's Hospitality, which is committed to “Serving the Past, Feeding the Future,” Late August’s menu explores the culinary heritages of Chef Chris Williams and Chef Sergio Hidalgo by bringing the dishes and flavors from both their youths and the experiences to date creating a culturally culinary celebration.

                                                            Had our 1st dining experience at Late August last night & it did not disappoint. Tali, our server is exceptionally personable & well acquainted with the menu. Everyone one of her suggestions were delicious! Thoroughly enjoyed our evening & look forward to a return visit in the near future.

                                                            I had busness in the building and it was pouring rain so I found this place randomly on open table for dinner. What a gem! I had the dressed oysters, fried chicken with hot honey (the BEST) and a side of squash in some sort of coconut sauce. Local white wine paired nicely. I was too full to think about dessert and took a box of leftovers back to my hotel. Food is fresh, artisanal and innovative, service is warm, proud of their chef (and a little languid but I was not in a hurry and appreciated not being rushed, even though they were closing soon). The decor is pleasing enough and given they are in an office loft building they did what they could with the space. Definitely worth a stop if you are in Houston.

                                                            Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious!! The ambiance was wonderful, the service was impeccable, and the portion sizes were plentiful! We enjoyed every minute of our dinner - thank you!

                                                            It was such a great dining experience at Late August. The customer service was phenomenal. The manager was amazing. The waiter was amazing. The food was amazing. The drink was amazing. The restaurant itself is so cute and quaint, and I love the playlist. The music was excellent as well. I will be returning. We truly enjoyed ourselves.

                                                            Wanted so much to love it. So so loud. Wait staff was very sweet but also very unknowledgeable. Food was hit and miss. Management attentive. Overall just so many other places to go I probably won’t return.

                                                            Chose this establishment to celebrate a good friend’s 55th Birthday. Everything was PERFECT!! Great venue for a party of eight ladies to fellowship and enjoy the company of one another while savoring in the flavors of the AfroMexican cuisine. Tariq was our server and he was nothing short of AMAZING!! 10/10
