   If indulgence is your sin, then Le Rivage is a fine way to spend a leisurely (pre-theater) lunch. From the welcoming hostess to enthusiastic staff, we thoroughly enjoyed our scrumptious French feast on Easter Sunday. Escargot came piping hot with crusty bread to soak up the garlicky butter. Equally satisfying was our tomato salad appetizer which included an unusual citrus/pesto vinaigrette that immediately won us over. Delicious lamb and risotto entrees required we finish every bite, and our waiter's solid red wine suggestion was much appreciated. We finished with a deeply rich chocolate mousse that was so feathery light it was hard to believe. Berries satisfied as refreshing even though topped with ice cream! Le Rivage has withstood the test of time because of its 100% attention to the diner's experience. Bravo!

   We have been coming to Le Rivage for 40 years. It’s been our favorite restaurant in Manhattan. Unfortunately last night we were disappointed. We always go after 7:30 to get the Ala Carte menu. When we arrived we were told on Saturday nights is a 70 prix fixe only. We really can’t eat that much, so the server said one of us could have it and we would just add an extra app and share. We were very pleased with that accommodation. Our favorite entree, which we always have, is the duck. It’s always been a very large half of a duck in a delicious orange sauce that they flambee at the table. A really special productions. So we ordered that at a 15 dollar surcharge on top of the 70 dollars which was fine. But when the duck arrived it was just 3 small pieces of duck breasts! So disappointed!! It was ok, but certainly not like the former preparation and certainly not worth the surcharge. My husbands onion soup was good and my beet salad was good. They were out of peach Melba ( also our favorite) but the chocolate molten cake was good. We also had two nice glasses of red wine. Service was fine. And the atmosphere is beautiful. But we probably won’t be back unless they bring back the duck!!!

   Yes we can accommodate the old duck recipe, but I can promise you that giving us a 3 star review that does not reflect our restaurant…will not get us to accommodate you!!!!

   The hostess was friendly and checked on us. Wait staff was amazing. Food was amazing. This was our first time here and it was an amazing experience. Would definitely dine there again as well as recommend to others.

   This restaurant has consistently good food and is a great place pr theater. Lots of good choices for the pre fixe menu

    I’ve been going to the theater since I was a kid and I can’t believe I haven’t eaten here before! I was dining alone and sat at this amazing nook in the corner if the bar, it was so private and comfortable- I loved it! The escargot was delicious, the duck was delectable, but the star of the show (with the dick being a very very close second - cooked to a perfect medium rare and surrounded by root vegetables and a delicious orange sauce - I digress) the star of the show was the île flottante - it was so sumptuous it melted in my mouth - like you are eating a cloud!! It’s pricey- but I would go back in a heart beat - there are prix fixe options as well! Highly recommend!
