Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States and opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought Le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge," and to top it all off, “Alain Ducass

    We have been many times and tried nearly everything on the Brunch menu. I tell people brunch is a $100 per person value for $50 … amazing quality and attention to detail. Reason for this review is a shout out to our waiter Omer (and management) for being so careful with allergies and offering lovely service. We appreciate you!

    Everything was perfect! Didn't reserve a table on the patio, but the weather turned out nicer than expected, so we sat outside with no issues about the reservation. Food was delicious, service was impeccable, will definitely be going back.

    This place is like coming to home to family anticipating a great meal and experience that never disappoints. The foos is always exquisitely presented and prepared only to be outdone by how deliberately delicious it is....every time!

    Went for our 5 year anniversary, and everything was amazing. From walking in to walking out. Did not feel rushed at all, overall very relaxed atmosphere, and well worth it. Recommend for anyone looking for a nice upscale date night/ romantic dinner out.

    The food, drinks and service were outstanding! The restaurant was a little noisy to us, but perhaps we'll try dining on the patio next time!

    Reservations were for the patio area. The weather was warm but delightful. Very comfortable and away from outside distractions. The service was nothing more than outstanding. The food was spectacular and very appropriate portion sizes. The blended tastes of every course were magnificent. I just wish that I could have eaten more. My wallet is a little bit in shock but not enough for me not to want more.
