Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States and opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought Le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge," and to top it all off, “Alain Ducass

    Le Yaca is truly a jewel in Williamsburg. The food is always a treat, and the service is first rate. Make sure to get a reservation. If you love French cuisine, this is the place!

    I’m a regular at Le Yaca and my daughter always wants to dine there when visiting. This time her husband was able to come and he was in awe of the delicious food.

    Impeccable service, outstanding food (especially the onion soup!), intimate setting, and reasonable prices combine to make Le Yaca one of our favorite restaurants.

    La Yaca always comes through with excellent food, perfect service and a beautiful atmosphere where you can hear yourself talk and not really the conversation of other tables. Perfect to celebrate my Mom’s birthday, they even put a candle on her dessert cake and a little extra Happy Birthday chocolate. And a Prix Fix 3 course lunch for $26 is a bargain for the food quality.

    Tonight we celebrated my birthday with our son and daughter in law. As usual everything was superb from the food to the service to the lovely dinner companions. Anthony was our server and took great care of us.

    Excellent service and food. Wide range of entrees snd the price fixe options were very worthwhile. Atmosphere was excellent.

    The beef and crab dinner was delicious. This is the best restaurant in Williamsburg. The service was excellent. My wife and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Keep up the great work.
