L'Escargot is London's oldest and most celebrated French restaurant serving classic French provincial dishes. It also has a great cocktail bar with reasonably priced cocktails and all day dining. Upstairs in the cocktail Bar there are live music acts every weekend.

The restaurant has welcomed luminaries such as Coco Chanel, Charles de Gaulle, Maurice Chevalier, Laurence Olivier, Lucien Freud and Francis Bacon. Princess Diana was a regular and to this day the restaurant is the home of many celebrated personalities.

It is located close to all the major West-End theatres, which makes it an excellent pre and post theatre dining spot.

We had the set lunch which was beautifully cooked and presented, and also very generous! The ambience at l’Escargot is always delightful, the room is lovely and the icing on the cake is that it is quiet!

An excellent family lunch for our daughter’s 26th birthday, served with great panache and joie de vie by Alexander . All brought together by the Restaurant Manager and Brian Clivaz the owner in indomitable style. The wonderful food produced under the direction of Head Chef James Tyrrell was a joy to behold and we were particularly thrilled with 5 perfect chocolate soufflé and a birthday cake to finish . The best Sunday Lunch !!

We went for the 5-7pm menu (pre theatre) which was excellent value, about 40% less expensive than the same courses ordered from a la carte so excellent value. There is a great ambience at L’Escargot from the moment we arrived. The decor transports you to the Latin Quarter, and each course was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to return soon.
