Before the James Beard Award and the Gourmet Magazine review, Lotus of Siam was a small little hole in the wall located in Commercial Center in Las Vegas. November 1999 was the month Chef Saipin and her husband Bill took over Lotus of Siam. Since then, Thai food became an adventure for those willing to step out of their comfort zones for Asian Cuisine. Chef Saipin’s distinct cooking has been passed down from generation to generation, from both her grandmothers and her husband’s grandmothers. Her northern style cooking has opened America into the “Northern” world of Thailand, away from the Bangkok style of sweet and tang. The northern menu consists of hearty herbs and spices, along with Thai style stews and coconut-less curries. Through her set menus, our guests can dine and enjoy recipes from over 100 years in the Chutima family.

Absolutely outstanding. Not your normal Thai food but real northern Thai food that far exceeded our expectations. The prices were great and the portions were plentiful. Highlight of a great trip to Vegas.

Billed as the best Thai food in America I came with too high expectations. Is it very good, yes. I feel it’s a bit Americanized and less authentic. It does have a more extensive menu than most Thai restaurants with Northern Thai varieties. If you haven’t had good Thai before, you’ll probably love it. If you have good Thai routinely it seems good not great. Nice location and ambiance.

Way over rated! There are much better tasting Thai food restaurants in Vegas. We ordered the garlic prawns and the dish was warm and the prawns were chewy, the crispy sea bass is a very small portion, which was being masked by all the mixed greens 2 green beans and 2 slices of bell pepper, the Thai fried rice was missing flavor. Even the dessert was a very thin white cake with a slice of pineapple and a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream. The experience is not worth the price.

We ordered the northern Tom kha soup, garlic prawns, garlic ribs, Chrissy duck and cocktails. Everything was delicious, but the duck was slightly tough to chew. Otherwise the service was great and the ambiance is cool, trendy and relaxed.

Food was mid level. Service was not friendly. Our dinner entrees arrived at the table one by one so some people ate while others waited for their food. Made the dining experience awkward. Noise level was high. It was hard to hear the conversation at our table. Expense for average Thai food.
