Our light and spacious modern restaurant occupies three floors, with an intimate private dining area. We are within walking distance of Verulamium Park, with its Roman remains, and close to the bustling city centre and boutique shops.

Excellent, helpful staff, ambience pleasant, music not to our liking but it was turned down. 😃 It was rather cold in the restaurant when we arrived at 12.00 noon but the waiter found us the warmest seat and not because we had complained. I am a healthy 83 year old but it was tricky finding dishes that avoided too much salt, sugar and saturated fat or too many carbs. * I expected the pear salad to be a healthy option but it should have been called a cheese salad with pear. I avoid eating a lot of cheese (saturated fat) and I mistakenly thought there would be a sprinkle of cheese but there was a lot of cheese and not much pear. A good portion of healthy walnuts though. * I could not finish the fish soup because it was too salty. Not only do I not like too much salt but it completely dominated and spoiled what should have been a delicious sauce. * The ginger syrup on the pineapple dessert was too sugary for me and I could not taste the ginger. Sadly I did not enjoy my food on this occasion. This is the first time I have been disappointed. Before lockdown my husband and I ate frequently at Lussman's and I cannot remember having a problem.

Thank you Elizabeth The menu design and approach to cooking is the same as it was 23years ago when I started Lussmanns. Happy to advise I still oversee the ethics and every recipe that we serve. Sorry it was not warm enough, clearly need to turn on the heating earlier. We do offer on menuguide through our allergen tool the opportunity to review ingredients. Additionally, we can always adapt the majority of dishes as cooked on site. The fish stew / bisque is by its nature salty and full flavoured and made centrally by my chefs so we are consistent in its delivery and in this case not your dish, that said I will review the dish again. Unhappy that it was not as hoped. Please contact me so we can organise a little something for you. Best wishes Andrei

Always excellent - never had a bad meal, never had bad service, always want half the things on the menu. A real favourite!

Food at Lussmanns is usually great. On my last visit, it was fine - the smoked haddock seemed a little rubbery, the bombas could have been hotter, and seemed like it was the shepherds pie mix cooked in a new format! Initially, the service received from the hostess was great, but after that, the young man who took over was very routine - "How is everything ladies?" before we had even had a chance to eat anything, and then he moved swiftly on. It's good to check, of course, but - be sincere! If you really care about the opinion and experience of the diner, dont just go through the motions. It wasnt especially busy, so I cant give him the benefit of the doubt about being overstretched.

Best restaurant in St Albans bar none. Although full the service was attentive and the food superb.

Incredible food as always. Francesco our waiter was really nice and personable. He apologised for any delays but to be honest it was nice not to be rushed on what’s usually one of the busiest nights.
