Manta is the signature restaurant of the iconic Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and has breathtaking views of the Kohala Coast. The menu is a curation of Pacific Rim cuisine with seasonal, local, and sustainably-produced ingredients.
Chef Bryan Nagao has gained formidable reputation in the international food community. He was once described by American media as "the most notable figures in rendering Modern Asian cuisine in the Northern hemisphere". The creativity permeating his cuisine stems from the diversity of his culinary background. Bryan's cuisine is a multi-faceted reflection of his Hawai'i Island birthplace, his Japanese ancestry, and decades spent in the finest restaurants in Hong Kong and Taipei.

Our meal was outstanding. Four of us had dinner and although expensive, every bite was worth it. Good service provided by Sylvia. The burrata salad, Kauai shrimp, steak, and ahi tuna all extremely delicious.The dessert Bombe and chocolate soufflé were both wonderful too The surf was rough- so the walk down the steps to look for mantas did not reveal any in the light set up. However, all in all, this was a great fancy dinner for our last night in Hawaii !

The food was good but my steak was incredibly rich and I couldn’t eat it. Everyone else seemed to enjoy it.

Beautiful setting at sunset. Wonderful food and our waiter Bronson was absolutely 5 star. That could also be said of all the staff we encountered

Our food was delicious and our server made some excellent recommendations for wine. Our only disappointment was having a reservation after dark and not being able to see the sunset or the water. We could only hear it lapping against the shoreline. Next time…. We will come before dark!!

Out of the restaurants at both Marriott locations this one had the quickest and best service including the food was actually cooked well.

Fish was fresh and flavorful. The ambience cannot be any better. Service was fantastic. Incredibly expensive on the high end of even Hawaii restaurants. Salads and appetizers run roughly $22-$30 each. Main course average is $60-70. Bottles of wine are $85+. If you can get past the prices, you will not be disappointed.

Amazing 5* service. They attend to you well, as you'd expect from a high end restaurant. The food all tasted good but I wasn't blown away. The best item I'd say was my 16oz prime Rib steak special but it costs $98! I was shocked when I got the bill. It was delicious but certainly not a cut worth that cost. The Mahi Mahi crusted fish was also very good. One very nice surprise wad they offered a reasonable kids menu. The view was also fantastic but unfortunately the mantas were not visiting that night due to the high waves. That was the biggest disappointment. I don't blame the restaurant though. It was certainly out of their control.
