   Decent tacos. Margaritas have a delicious salt/spice mix? on the side of the glass which is worth tasting!

   We live nearby to Hyde Park Square and decided to take advantage of the balmy evening and out door availability. We made a 6:00pm reservation and arrived a little early. A quick walk around the block suggest by the hostess and a call when an outside table was available put us right at 6:00pm! Dinner was good: tacos all around (a variety of choices) a couple of beers and we were all set. Emily was a great waitperson...

   Mesa Loca has an outstanding patio and, absent snow, sleet or rain, should hold up reasonably well over the coming COVID winter. Plenty of propane heat lamps surround the tables, although the one over our table was malfunctioning. Not a problem that evening - it was in the 50s - but I'm sure they'll get it fixed. For starters, I can recommend the premium margarita enough. Outstanding with a good kick, tangy flavor and a specialty salt (or something) around the glass rather than just the edge. It gets on your fingers when you pick the glass up, so make sure you hand sanitize first and then don't be shy about licking your fingers. Chips and chorizo queso were a delicious starter and the restaurant is generous with their portions. My wife and I split two taco dishes - one chicken (mesa fuego) and the other beef (carne asada) and both were excellent thanks, in large part, to the ingredients added to each. The chicken was a little dry, so next time I'll try one of the seafood tacos. We also shared a side order of manchego rice and it was well worth it. Strongly recommended. The vibe outside is wonderful. It's well-lit but not too bright and the energy of Hyde Park Square is there, even though you're not too close to the street to pick up the exhaust. We'll go back.
