    Melange at Le Meridien Pasadena Arcadia welcomes Chef Hiroo, in collaboration with Chef Gabe, for this unforgettable evening. Immerse yourself in an interactive experience that will tantalize your taste buds and leave you wanting more. Bio on Chef Hiroo: Chef Hiroo Nagahara was born and raised in Tokyo. He’s worked with some of the finest chefs and restaurateurs in the industry including the late Charlie Trotter. His career blossomed when he landed the executive chef position at Bar Charlie in Las Vegas. Working with Trotter’s team opened doors for Hiroo to stage with some of the world’s most talented Michelin-starred chefs like Guy Savoy (Restaurant Guy Savoy ***), Hideki Ishikawa (Kagurazaka Ishikawa ***) and Yoshihiro Narisawa (Narisawa **). In 2010, Nagahara moved to San Francisco and partnered with Mobi Munch to launch The Chairman, an award-winning food truck that blurred the lines between fine-dining and street food. Hiroo went on to open Nomica, a modern Japanese restaurant serving refined rustic cuisine in the heart of the Castro District. In 2019 with Bao Hiroo, Nagahara brought his pedigreed resume and mother’s cherished recipes for stuffed bao to the Arts District in DTLA. Since then, he has consulted at two 5-Star Hotel Properties in Santa Monica, consulted for the Award-Winning Culinary Program at UMass, cooked privately for high profile clients, and ran numerous successful Residencies at Kimpton La Peer Hotel and The Restaurant at Japan House LA. Chef Nagahara has earned a number of accolades including a Michelin 1 Star Award while working for Charlie Trotter in Las Vegas within its first year. With The Chairman, his truck was named one of America’s Top Asian Food Trucks by Details Magazine as well as Most Mouth-Watering Food Trucks by Maxim. He also competed on Iron Chef Showdown in 2017

                                                              Despite setting a reservation, we still had to wait 30 minutes after checking in before being seated. Once we were seated we were handed menus and told our waiter would be with us shortly, however we were never approached. After 25 minutes of waiting and watching tables seated after us being given appetizers, without us even being given water, we decided to move our celebration to a different restaurant. We would like to give them the benefit of the doubt given we expected Valentine’s Day to be exceedingly busy, but not even being offered water while we waited for so long felt too unreasonable.

                                                              Very nice dinner with nice service. It was a bit pricey, and they added a holiday surcharge....it was Christmas Night, and because we were traveling, we were happy to be able to have a nice dinner at our hotel on this holiday, and we hope that the surcharge helps make it worth employees' while to work on Christmas. I had the whole Branzino, and it was delicious. It's deep-fried, which seemed like a negative, but the way they did it made the fish super tender and tasty inside. I just didn't eat the battered skin (which likely tasted good, but had more of the frying oil). Wanted to sub veggies for the rice that comes with it, but they wouldn't do that (understandable....fresh veggies cost more to them than rice), but I added a side of Bok choy. My husband had salmon that he enjoyed as well. We were too full for dessert :).

                                                              What a beautiful restaurant and hotel! Our server, Rachel, was so sweet. The food was delicious! The restaurant didn't seem that busy, but it did take a bit longer than expected for the food to arrive. Otherwise, it was amazing! We will definitely go back!

                                                              No complaints about the food or lattes, except the portions are slightly smaller than what I’m used to for the eggs benedict…delish cocktails—highly recommend bartender..
