   It was a busy Saturday night as expected in Rockville Centre but we had a reservation for 7pm and were sat immediately. Drinks (including the mocktails!), the table side guac and all our meals were delicious. Our server John was great, engaging and attentive. Overall we had a great night and all the staff were really on top of everything. Can’t wait to come back again soon.

   The ambience was great. The service was excellent. The food was great and in big portions. Only complaint I have is the parking in the area but overall experience was great.

    Up until this point, Mesita has been a pretty positive experience. Maybe it was because I went with smaller groups, at the bar with my friends, or maybe it was with different staff. This experience had positives, but just mediocre overall. We were two families - four adults and five children - and the place was very busy and most tables were full [ which is always promising to see anywhere]. However, after seated it was too long a time to be greeted and get a drink / appetizer order. I find it odd the menu doesn't include wine [ someone in my party had to specifically ask to order]. And while I understand the theme of the restaurant pushes for Mexican themed drinks [tequila, sangria & beer], in Mexico wine is also served, right? So it's strange that it isn't on the menu [and let's be honest, other restaurants of similar or different cuisines offer it]. When our first appetizer came [Homemade Guacamole], we still hadn't received any chips/salsa for the table [especially w/ 5 kids too] and had to ask. Once all appetizers were delivered, we still hadn't ordered our main dishes, and forced to eat appetizers with gigantic menus on the table. And with large tables with kids, extra napkins are necessary. One order was wrong [received chicken quesadillas instead of steak]. When returned, it was replaced with steak but it had clearly been chopped up and potentially microwaved because the turn around was maybe 5 min and the meat was chewy . In the past with steak quesadillas, you're asked how you would like it cooked and it is in strips and juicy. While I completely understand busy times in a restaurant, I do think the issue here was timing and lack of staff support. Our waiter had our party of 9, AND a birthday party behind us of maybe 15-20 people. Overall the food and drinks were good. And to be clear, our server was attentive and hardworking, but perhaps because of being in an area of two large groups at a busy time couldn't give us the attention required.
