Metropolis by Marcus Samuelsson is a vibrant contemporary American restaurant from Marcus Samuelsson within the Perelman Performing Arts Center. Metropolis is the culinary anchor of this new cultural cornerstone of Lower Manhattan and is honored to play a role in the final chapter of rebuilding the World Trade Center site. Its menu explores the rich culinary traditions of New York City through a modern lens with theatrical cocktails, a fun and worldly wine list, and gracious hospitality. Designed by David Rockwell, Metropolis features a dazzling yet warmly inviting dining room and a bustling bar, a landscaped outdoor terrace, and a lobby lounge featuring free-to-the-public artistic programming.

From our entrance to our exit we had an amazing experience. The food was excellent, full of flavor. The menu was small but just enough, just the way I like it. The ambiance was very modern and sexy. The staff were attentive but not overwhelming. The prices are a little on the high side but for the location of the restaurant and the quality of food it’s where is should be. I would recommend this restaurant, it was worth the drive from Long-island.

The food and service were excellent! It’s the most elevated soul food experience you can have in this life! We went during restaurant week and each course was such a beautifully balanced and delicious experience! The fried olives were incredible! The fried chicken is incredible! The potato chowder was an adventure in flavor and texture! Also the shrimp Mac and cheese served in that clay pot blew my mind. It had as much shrimp as it had noodles! The service was also incredible. Mikayla too care of us and was such a sweetheart! We fed two people for $211.00 before the tip, and that was incredible! And they served the banana pudding table side! That was a spectacle!!!

We ate at Metropolis for lunch. All staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. The space is beautifully planned with artsy lighting and artwork on the wall. The building where this restaurant is located ( the Perlman Performing Arts ) is truly awesome. We would come again on our next visit to NYC!

What a work of art, the experience we had was amazing , the food blew us away with how it tasted. Everything was plated perfectly, we enjoyed our time .

This is our fifth visit and our daughter's gave us a gift card for my birthday. We have never been disappointed in our visit to Metropolis. The chicken is to die for. The servers are wonderful. We live in FIDI and will return soon.

Delicious food and unique dining experience. We arrived early for our reservation but they were able to seat us right away. The decor was beautiful and the drinks were strong and tasty. They also have an extensive wine and spirits list. We started with oysters, which were brought out on a cart. We had the option to choose from a variety of toppings and sauces for the oysters in addition to the typical sauces oysters are served with. We also got the Hamachi starter which was delicious. For our entrees, I got the lobster pasta in sea urchin marinara which is definitely not for everyone, but I enjoyed it very much. The serving of lobster was generous - if anything, I would have liked a bit more pasta. My husband got the crispy snapper which I will definitely be ordering next time! Overall, we were very happy with the whole experience and will definitely be back soon!

Despite the host, and our server, asking me for any food allergies/preferences, and me reiterating twice no spicy stuff like red pepper flakes, hot peppers, excessive pepper, chili oils, etc. They brought me a hamburger loaded with jalapeños tucked into layers of the meat and on top...? (How many times does a diner have to explain what not to put on their food? Does anybody listen or is it just lip service?) Of course it was sent back. An apology from both, but no offer of a free drink, extra side, dessert, nothing. So we ate our entrees separately and we'll never return there for a meal again. Kind of inexcusable for a Marcus Samuelsson restaurant. It looks great but not paying attention, high prices and heavily spiced food - not for us. The food in this restaurant is heavily spiced with pepper and god knows what else.
